Russian bears can play the trumpet. Ewoks lurking in space forest? That was easy to believe
I just hope your rich myths and culture could be explored and shared on screens across the world one day.

By "on here" you mean planet Earth, right?
Too right.
LOL you're gonna be so miffed when the aliens from the UFO thread turn out to be Ewoksplaamook wrote: ↑29 May 2021Too right.
I'm happy to watch the new stuff. I like seeing the imagery of smashed up ruins of ATAT's and so on. But I'm over it. They can stuff thier fanchise wherever they like. It can't touch my experience as a child.
I switch off after Empire. I enjoyed Jedi as a kid but when I look back, Empire was the end of it.
The teddy bears... but also, look at how Boba Fett dies. It was such a let down.
Down hill from there.
The rule of Inverse Proportion of Lightsabers. The higher the number of lightsabers on a SW's poster, the worse the movie is.plaamook wrote: ↑29 May 2021Too right.

I have grown to resent and resist nostalgia in almost every form now because of how corrosive it has become to creativity and open-mindedness, especially with how much it is abused by corporate media these days. For a large chunk of my life I would've considered myself a Star Wars nerd who'd get excited about the tiniest references, but now I cringe whenever hearing some equivalent to “Think about the fans!” Ugh. Instead of endlessly recycling my childhood I'd rather see creative cinematic populist art that’ll stand the test of time and inspire future generations. Just imagine how awesome it must’ve felt making A New Hope and Empire when the filmmakers didn’t have to second guess everything they did based on fan reaction and had the freedom to create anything their imaginations could envision. Now every Star Wars movie is forever enslaved by the same flavors of story beats, character archetypes, designs and iconography. It’s all hardened and sacrosanct now, so any large deviation is now seen as a betrayal. I can’t imagine why any creative, talented filmmaker would ever want to touch this franchise now; Too much baggage.challism wrote: ↑28 May 2021Totally agree. They ruined it. George Lucas is pretty overrated, if you ask me. And from what I've seen, he pretty much stole a lot of the ideas he used to make the first trilogy. I still love them, though. They are classics and a nostalgic part of my childhood.Heater wrote: ↑28 May 2021
Let's not talk about Han. I'm still very salty about that. What an absolute waste of a character.
Let's talk about Rey. You can sit on a barren rock starving and dying of thirst for 20 odd years then pick up a lightsaber and you're a Jedi master. What a load of old tosh.
Love how they totally marginalised Finn in the later movies. Arrgghhh. It genuinely makes me angry how they fucked over Star Wars.
That's the real problem.
No idea who this dude is. It was a YT's algo suggestion from yesterday.avasopht wrote: ↑18 Jul 2021That's the real problem.
Even the MCU became safe and formulaic towards the end. But they managed to pull it off!
It's tough. In order to get the funds, you have to convince the funders that the product will make money, and they refuse to acknowledge that creatives might know a thing or two about how to do that and instead cling to an ideology that is not compatible with what they're trying to achieve.
The suits seem to be learning now though with the successes of all of the franchises they thought wouldn't make much money, so let the producers have more creative control. But I give it 5-10 years until they've have completely forgotten.
Hail Digital Serendipity Minority Report.
