@Mattias: for the sake of clarification:

If I *already* have R11 full version (and nothing else), is it still possible to buy an R11 "upgrade" and register it in order to get R12? Or shall I buy & wait, and register it after September 1st?
If you already have Reason 11, you can't upgrade to Reason 11 again. You can wait for Reason 12 to be released and register an upgrade at that point,
Presumably at full price rather than at the current 30% off? :(

I wrote some words here, if you're a sucker for more details: https://www.reasonstudios.com/blog/announcing-reason-12 :)
Mattias, given OS X El Capitan is getting long in the tooth now, I was wondering if Reason 12 will still support it or if the macOS system requirement will be higher this time round?

Are you in a position to let us know at this point in development?
Yes, we'll bump the system requirements to macOS 10.13 and above and Windows 10 and above. This was a long time coming and it really helps development when we don't have support older, quite technically different systems. :)

cool, the browser search is finally being fixed.
Can you tell what was fixed in the browser, please?

Uhm ... so the new version of Reason:

- A new instrument
- An updated instrument
- Only search function updated to browser
- 4k

And that’s it ...

≠ No sequencer updates
≠ No VST3
≠ No shortcuts
≠ No new themes
≠ No improved mixer
≠ No better integrations with modern keyboards such as novation.

Once again, another major update that should’ve been a point update.

It's a bit early to be saying what's not in it when they haven't said everything that is...

Yeah, I agree. They've given us the big bullet points. Hopefully there will be a bunch of smaller ones.

Sounds good to me but no words about sequencer improvments.

Dude. CHILL. THEY HAVEN'T EVEN SAID EVERYTHING YET. These are community feedback updates that they want us to know. THEY'RE STILL UNDER DEV. Sheesh.

wow, it's actually a bit unbelievable that with all the sequencer and workflow gripes over the last years they're STILL focused on the rack. still need to upgrade for the 4K stuff, but unless they're just keeping quiet on a bunch of other quality of life features, it's hard to keep believing them when they say they're committed to the core DAW experience. time will tell, but super underwhelming, based on this. 😔

I'm assuming the browser search won't be as excruciatingly slow given the new dynamic search feature (otherwise the feature wouldn't really work).

Hey, I'm not sure, but it might still be the case, that you can upgrade your win 8 for free, I upgraded from win 7 myself: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=7520154

More excited about this upgrade than I've been for one in a while. Can't wait to find out more about the new Combinator especially.

I feel like if it was the reverse and they were announcing workflow improvements and vst3 support, this forum would be all like BUT WHY IS NO COMBI, LO REZ MAKES EYES HURTING, I PAY TOP DOLLAR FOR SUCKYSHIT BROWSER, WHERE IS NEW INSTRUMENT ME BORED ALGORITM ALREADY.

Hate me but personally I saw 'new combinator' and I stopped right there. About freaking time.

Is it ok to say here, that a "new configurable Combinator" makes me horny?

With such an impressive list for 12.0, I'm already wondering what the 12.x point updates might look like...

I wondered this as it seems weird that reason 11 owners would not be able to take advantage of buying this during the sale. Perhaps it will be a cheaper upgrade price for 11 owners moving forward but guess we will find out in September. I can understand if they start offering smaller upgrade prices to those on the latest version eg £90 from 11 to 12, £129 for older reason users to get 12 but some would not be happy with that either.

If not it will surely annoy those that have 11 if previous version owners got a better deal but no point really speculating until it's clear later in year (appreciate I speculated above :) )

Glad to hear that R 12 is coming, but Matthias, what can we expect in terms of performance ?
