It's crazy that there are people actually buying NFTs:

Gonna get blasted for this, but to my (extremely limited) knowledge, owning an NFT for something is just like bragging rights, right? I mean you don't own the thing. You don't own the distribution rights, mechanical rights, copyright etc, no? It seems like just another imaginary thing invented to move money from one person's account to another. I really don't understand it. I think 35 is "too old for this shit" these days. Now, where's my ear-trumpet? ....

I've been rethinking this over the past few months....

Human greed guarantees it.

People can just issue more NTFs.

It's more like a poo coin than Bitcoin.

It's too bad, because verified ownership is something we need.

Think cryptocurrency is bad? NFTs are even worse.
Does anyone aside from tech bros think this is a good idea?

An NFT is merely the very costly, environmentally disastrous, tech bro equivalent of peeing on a hydrant.
Just what I thought of it.

Internet FACTS:
NFTs use more energy in 24 hrs than all the Google servers, Facebook servers, Twitter servers, TikTok servers. 97.3% Combined, to be exact.
:lightbulb: :geek: :lightbulb:

Musicians have taken to Twitter today to complain about a website that is ostensibly selling their music as NFTs without permission. HitPiece claims to sell one-of-one NFTs, meaning each one is singular and unique (as opposed to the endless iterations of ugly monkeys we are now subjected to).

"Each HitPiece NFT is a One of One NFT for each unique song recording," said the HitPiece website. "Members build their Hitlist of their favorite songs, get on leaderboards, and receive in real life value such as access and experiences with Artists."

There's just one little snag with this plan. According to many of the artists whose songs are being offered as NFTs, HitPiece doesn't actually have any authority to do any of this.

I have not read the article, but I understand NFTs, and authority is irrelevant.

Anyone and everyone has the authority to create or own an NFT for a song or a color or anything else.

They key thing to understand is that an NFT exchange is just a star name registry.

We all learned star name registries were a scam when we were little kids, right?

There must be a star name registry issuing NFTs by now. I mean, of course there is.

https://destars.org/

This site is definitely satire. The question is whether it is self-satire.

The "Can you really name a Star?" section at the end is… (chef's kiss). They might as well say:

OUR star name registry is THE ONE TRUE star name registry because it is the least efficient!

And I spent minutes writing my previous reply.

But now I've read the article and it contained no surprises.
