Here's a remix I made of a nu skool breaks track that I used to play all the time in my student days. The focus was mostly on the beats and mixing them up in an interesting way. The track consists about 80% of samples from my rather worn vinyl copy. Some extra synth sounds were added which gave it a bit of a dark feel, which isn't really what I was aiming for but it sounds good so what the hell...

Any comments, feedback, appreciated as always

Original track (recommended if you like breaks):

I enjoyed both of these tracks but would say your version was slightly better than the original imo.

I don't know what year this track was from but it did remind me of stuff i listened to as a young un. Probably around the era of late 80's early 90's (thinking around when orbital chime came out etc). The original is a good track but does have a certain early flavour to it (although i may be completely wrong and it was released 10 yrs ago :)

Thanks for listening! The original track is from 2000 I believe, BLIM was part of the "nu skool breaks" scene, stuff like Adam Freeland, Hybrid, ILS. I kind of challenged myself to remix the arrangement but keep the 'old skool sound' of the original intact.

Wow i was miles out on the era (sign of getting old i guess). I will have to have a listen to Adam Freeland if he is similar to hybrid as wide angle and morning sci fi are still two of my favourite albums. I recall ILS made a track called bohemia that i liked too but not heard much else of their stuff.

LOL it's probably the crappy vinyl that makes it sound older. Anyway, back in the day the Y3K compilations were some of my favorites:

I like it. It was a very nice dark atmosphere to it.
