Thought I'd ask those on this board much smarter than me and more well versed in modular setups (as I am not) a little more of an explanation on the scale and amp’s functionality to AM/RM a signal...
From the manual...
So, I know we can use the Mix module to make a bipolar signal unipolar (just positive or negative) does this mean we can simply change on the fly the type of modulation/math (between AM and RM) by simply changing a bipolar signal to unipolar and then back again?• If the Level signal is positive unipolar and static you could use it to amplify the In signal like a regular amplifier.
• If the Level signal is positive unipolar and cyclic you could use it for amplitude modulating the In signal.
• If the Level signal is bipolar and cyclic you could use it for ring modulating the In signal.
The second question spawns from the first and it’s just to clarify the difference between pushing a signal through ‘mix in 2’ only and pushing it through scale and amps ‘level input’ only in terms of changing the apparent direction (not polarity) of the signal (between bipolar and unipolar)? I see in the manual the graphic of the signal going into positive territory as you increase the knob's value (all the way to the right on the mix modual and in center position for scale and amp) and aside from the apparent change in level, what’s the difference between the 2 options?
The Third question is more curiosity than anything, what’s the difference between using the portamento parameter given in the “performance panel” versus creating your own using the lag module?
