I am a proudly retired carpenter. I have a tablesaw right thumb story that thankfully worked out well in the end. (Hint: develop left hand technique while healing).
Also Mr. Strat, excellent badoom tish thingy. Convoluted, but I likes my womens that way too.

I wonder if it's along the same lines as my dad?
One day many years ago my dad came casually walking into the house called my mum and asking her to get some frozen peas from the freezer and to bring the car key, she did what he asked and then proceed to ask why......
He showed her that he had removed the tip of his thumb with his bench saw and the whole nail and asked her if she could take him to hospital, she turned very white started to feel sick and faint at which point my dad said I'll drive but you're going to have to do the gear stick.
Us kids at the time was less worried as it wasn't the first time.....
