This was a great video. Thanks for posting it.
It seems NFT is an attempt to put the digital toothpaste back in the tube.
Digital copying became so easy that it destroyed the business model of analog copying.
So now we're trying to recapture some of the glory of the old days by slapping a math bag on the side of digital copying.
I definitely get why musicians will jump all over an income stream from super-fans.
But I for one will never buy an NFT for anything. It's gratuitous artificial scarcity like Bitcoin.
And how much do you want to bet it involves externalizing the real cost of the electricity (i.e. making the planet uninhabitable) like Bitcoin does?
So tired of libertarian tech bros and their stupid games.

Do you have to sell your NFT? It could be a solution to replace the Copyright system one day. Proof of ownership worldwide. That's the part I am interested in.
I don't know how much energy the 'NFT network' consumes, compared to people searching for cat pictures on Google image search every second, but that is something to look into. Definitely. My guess is, maybe, a little bit less than Google's? I could be wrong about that.

Meh.
Ok...Save your applause for when real estate, is registered on the block chain.
Most people will fail to realize the implications of NFTs etc..

The block chain? I'll save my laughs for when it gets registered to different owners on different block chains. And if there supposed to be one registration authority, why use any block chain technology at all? Just digitally signing the transfer of rights or the purchase deal would be enough.

This will not change the music business. It's just another way for the current music business to profit. The lamest possible way at that too fanny packs considering, even...
In my understanding, if you buy the NFT for a song (or other asset), you simply own the NFT. The song (e.g. digital recording) is no more protected against unlimitted copying than it is today. NFT is like DRM without teeth.
Yes, a lot of money will be made and lost with NFTs, just like any other 'greater fool' phenomena.

Does distributed processing imply using block chains? Block chains is a costly solution that could be justified if you needed decentralization or anonymity. That's not the case with an inventory.BRIGGS wrote: ↑14 Mar 2021Why?orthodox wrote: ↑14 Mar 2021The block chain? Typical ownership rights can be disputed. Blockchains are more like setting things in stone.
No trust needed.

Maybe we could politely ask the banking system to help artists and musicians. We could use their network as proof of ownership. Everyone trusts the bankers. Everyone can use their network. Their system is very safe. They already know who we are, and what we do, making their platform double rainbow better

Totally useless for us. Buying those things will be retarded. Bragging rights? I can see a lot of idiots trying to and the rest of the world not caring one bit. It is useless and a waste of time. Bunch of retards. Fuck social media.

It will be needed when there are several competing block chains as anybody can run one. The state will also need the info if it does not want the economy going black, so it will end up duplicating the data.
