Please SEE: Now that the 2600 is shipping from our factory, how many of you would be interested in a dedicated keyboard similar to the ARP2600 keyboard below? Or would you be happy to connect it to a normal MIDI controller?

I will be buying a 2600 in Q1-2021. It's a delayed purchase for me due to allocating "having fun" funds, plus in recent weeks I just added Korg Minilogue XD, Behringer Neutron and Arturia Keystep Pro to my studio. So, I need to make the most of those before adding further... but my Keystep Pro told me this morning that it's in love with the 2600 and so I have to listen and take action.

Plus - no doubt there will be a world drought on 2600's. The wait could be long. And... I have got my eye on ASM Hydrasynth and Super 6 and MatrixBrute and Summit. Far too many cool toys arriving all at once.

The pace of great releases is astounding. I'd rather have the Korg version, but I won't get either though. Like danc above, too many cool toys. Just got the Modal Argon 8M and am waiting for the Microfreak. I've got my hands full for the next year.

PS - I do agree with the led complaint I've seen other places but don't think that would push me away if I wanted the Beri 2600.

Probably beats a Mini Moog for phatness, but the tiny faders and no keyboard puts it behind a MS-20 IMO, the point of an analog in this day and age is live performance and access to knobs while playing, and just record audio bits into the DAW.

Sure you can sequence stuff and then work the sliders and record the audio, but that will be more of an electronica performance and less of funking around. Still have a place though... Price is nice too, compared to overpriced old stuff.

Beautiful. This and the Behringer Mono/Poly to go with my MS-1 And Nava 909 that's coming would be amazing. Oh and a TD-3 and Prophet 10. Laughing.

From the Comments:
His "analysis of the BASS" of the KArp is OFF. ...Keyboard Tracking...

Also, no sound card. Just room recording.
But, the Behr 2600 sounds Great to me!

I have seen some german clones on ebay for less than 1000 that looks and sounds awesome, with top class capacitors, keyboard included.
If this thing will cost less than 1000 I'll have a very hard time not going full throttle.
Does anyone knows if there will be presets saving or digital normalling of sorts?

Has Behringer said what the colors of the LEDs represent? I can’t make out any pattern to them.

I ordered two ' cause every Child should have one.

But, it Sounds a bit Toy-ey compared to the KARP 2600 FS. Just, my Opinion.

One feature on this synth that isn't faithful to the original is the reverb section. The original Arp 2600 had a real spring tank, whereas the Behringer 2600 has a digital emulation of the spring reverb. It’s not the best sounding reverb but it works.

I'm Glad I didn't hesitate on the KARP 2600 FS.
Image
I am inspired every time I play/touch it:

The KARP's Noise is Noisier. The Dirt is Dirtier.

Behringer's LFO range isn't that Great (Crave) - so, I'd use an external LFO, anyway.
Even Arturia puts rather coarse, predictable, LFOS (imo) so its not just Behringer.
The Behr2600 will probably just SUSTAIN at FAST Re-Triggers -from... say... Proper LFOs.

The KARP's Pitch is Bendier:
The BehrPitch Faders have FEWER sweetspots.
Fine Tune Faders... (OSC/Filter!!)? Not as NICE as the KARP (from the videos)

The KARP's Faders have useful Throw: There's quite a bit of Dead Zone on the Behr2600. No bueno.

Ralph Baumgartl: "I think that the B2600 has generally a cleaner sound than my original ARP2600, which sounds a bit more raw and "noisier".

The Behr2600 is a nice Synth. I can't wait to ACTUALLY TRY IT.
But, so Far, Sound for Sound...? - It's a KARP 2600 FS for the Studio!!!   Another, pls. :?

Blue Marvin and Gray Meanie Limited Edition ...$699 vs $599... Differences...

“Featuring carefully selected high-grade components for improved performance, a mechanical spring reverb and unicolor fader LED’s, the Behringer Blue Marvin and Gray Meanie look back at the rarest first editions of the 2600 that was released in 1971.

We further added some very useful features such as a dual filter, an additional LFO, VCO syncs, USB MIDI, and much more.

It's arrived!!!! I just discovered it's not accepting midi CC's...
And I don't understand how to stop the S/H from triggering when the sequencer is stopped...
Other than that, it sounds pretty amazing, and I love the reverb too :P

What would you do? Swap the standard for the Blue or Gray??
I'm thinking to send it back, and wait for the Blue Marvin, but the shipment date is unknown...
What a daring situation...

I wasn't listening to the audio quality while uploading, after listening a couple more times I preferred to send it to the oblivium bin!!
I'm trying to get a good audio version out, but I just had to reinstall Win 10 from zero again after new update total crash and I need to reinstall
everything... writing from a back up pc right now...

It was a really good session, but also too long and boring, next need to be short.
I tried to get some sonic variations from the two filter settings but it was very hard to notice any difference,
maybe a subtle change in bass response or steeper filter edge. Very hard to spot.

Definitely there's a lot to experiment with the Orange before going on with the others!

Looks Pretty.
I wanted the Orange for the Lights, mostly.
First I liked the Lights... then I Hated 'em... Now, I like 'em, again!
Seems a Steal for $600 :? .

Now - to check the Sound.

I'm still on the list for a Blue or a Grey. Whichever comes First.

....... 🤔

Comparisons to the Korg Arp 2600.....? I don't think so!
They Sound NOTHING alike.

The KArp isn't the OG Arp but - :?:

Turning on Barp's - SYNC - leaves me scratching my head...
That SYNC makes 90% of the Fader a Dead Zone :exclamation:
Why would I use that? Why would SYNC kill the whole DIAL?

Barp Sounds make me say... "That's Nice.."
The KARP scares the 💩 out of me!

I gotta stay, I'm more inspired by the MicroFreak.
Reason Synths are more lively.

I'm going to get the Blue - but, not for the Circuits n Verb ....
That Blue will look Cool in a Room - and it has 'Utility'

but - I know not to expect this....

COMMENTS
