Nah, not ruined Reason. Reason is special nonetheless. If you - as an musician / producer - want to write tracks just with Reason 1 - 5 devices; you still can. I have an empty template just running on those devices (i also have few computers running the old versions, but that's another story). Just using the good old propellerhead devices can be beautiful, especially when writing techno / ambient. And on the first note; I wouldn't say it ruined it. It opened it up for more users. People were screaming for it for years, so I guess vst support is what the majority wanted.

Reason 12, Ableton Live 10 Suite, Roland Cloud, Arturia V9, Korg Legacy 3, Soundtoys 5, Waves Mercury, Sonic Charge Bundle, N.I.: Massive, Reaktor 6, FM8. + a lot of Hardware. Windows 7/10.

Main thing VST's opened up for me was access to a lot of both free and very inexpensive devices (and a lot more sales/promotions) that are really decent.

Like https://www.tokyodawn.net/tdr-nova/ is really nice and free. I'm sure there are equivalent or better EQ's as rack extensions but aren't cheap enough for me to impulse buy for the convenience.

or how about:
https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/rack ... nthesizer/ ($82 CAD) vs https://blamsoft.com/vst/vk-1-viking-synthesizer/ (free)

I'd totally prefer to have vk-1 as a RE but not $82 enough.

I do music stuff as a hobby so at the end of the day cost does matter a lot.

Well, technically it's not free, but pay what you want (which can be $0.00).

I make the odd donations to developers who offer this, even when I haven't used it for years as what they create is valuable, and if we all blow a daily load on fast food, coffee, and lots of other things ;)

Fair point. I really should donate or buy VK-2 because it's a pretty awesome device :)

I'll say this: Reason standalone not supporting VST3 is now becoming an official pain in my a s s, as the new Roland Juno 60 is only VST3, so now I have to use it in Nektarine in Reason (which is not optimal).
Win 10 | Ableton Live 11 Suite |  Reason 12 | i7 3770k @ 3.5 Ghz | 16 GB RAM | RME Babyface Pro | Akai MPC Live 2 & Akai Force | Roland System 8, MX1, TB3 | Dreadbox Typhon | Korg Minilogue XD

Did you try this VST3 wrapper?

Don't need to - I use Nektarine in Reason. ;) Thanks though!
