This being the case you should allow multiple computers to have offline licenses as a lot of people these days may have a laptop and a desktop, and the ignition key was a second form of an offline license.MattiasHG wrote: ↑27 Jan 2021This has nothing to do with Reason+.tobypearce wrote: ↑27 Jan 2021I can quite believe that they haven't had time to even consider this fully because they've been busy with the companion.
You may mean that the only way I can avoid having to log into Reason every time I open it is to subscribe to Reason +. Great.
You can still authorize your Reason license on one computer (being a single user license) for offline use even under new Macs. What's not supported is specifically the USB Ignition Key. The hardware key is discontinued and we haven't shipped that with Reason in years. Many new computers don't even have traditional USB ports, so it was high time to move to a purely digital solution that also saves on the environment.
Sorry if this isn't solving your specific problem (moving between two computers you own, but not using internet verification) but I wanted to at least give you the background.
Ignition Key bites the dust on Mac - with no plans to fix

I have a laptop and a desktop and would like the option to authorize both for offline use.ProfessaKaos wrote: ↑28 Jan 2021This being the case you should allow multiple computers to have offline licenses as a lot of people these days may have a laptop and a desktop, and the ignition key was a second form of an offline license.MattiasHG wrote: ↑27 Jan 2021
This has nothing to do with Reason+.

That would create a way for violating the License Agreement, which forbids running two instances of the software. It is impossible to verify how you comply with it on offline computers.
And the Ignition Key and offline computer key didn't already allow for that?
As it stands, up until now, with an Ignition key and computer offline authorization you can run 3 instances with online login.
Although I have never needed to do that as long as the dongle has existed.
If Anything, dropping the Ignition Key for two computer hardware keys, would decrease the likelihood of any funny business.
I could have loaned my Ignition key to a buddy across town for years, while I continue with my computer authorized for offline use and Reason Studios would never know. It has always been an honor system.

Yeah, they are tightening the policy, with the excuse of obsoleting the old product. I heard there were other problems with dongles, like they couldn't hold many RE licenses.Philup wrote: ↑29 Jan 2021And the Ignition Key and offline computer key didn't already allow for that?

I hope whenever new version of Reason comes out doesn't break ignition key for current/older version. Just like other vendors coughWavescough, I'd imagine a time when the auth server will stop accepting older version's software auth request, and I'll be stuck with something that I can't auth without something external like a usb dongle
Reason does not care if the authorization comes from computer or dongle, this is handled by Codemeter. I guess when they decide to withdraw Ignition Keys, they will just remove the authorize option on their website.softska wrote: ↑29 Jan 2021I hope whenever new version of Reason comes out doesn't break ignition key for current/older version. Which is a stupid licensing agreement. I use Logic which is linked to my Apple ID. I have Logic on a MacBook and iMac without issue. It’s stupid that the props are forcing folks to buy two licenses.
Apple does not make money off software. They use it only to decorate their main product, an overpriced piece of hardware.
But one random RE version bump and codemeter will have to update license again on the dongle. I don't see how I can prevent these RE updates if I ever redownload, it just get shoved into my accountorthodox wrote: ↑29 Jan 2021Reason does not care if the authorization comes from computer or dongle, this is handled by Codemeter. You accepted those terms when you purchased Reason.
Logic has a different license agreement that allows installs on all your personal Macs. But by that point you would have paid for Logic's development costs several times with each Mac purchase.

Twice I've tried to log-in today and got a network error from the server. And this is why I want offline options.

I'm behind two authorisations. Out in the sticks in Spain. Never know when the wifi's gonna crap out, etc.
While we're on the topic...Would be nice if they'd reconsider their policy on too many computer authorisation resets, esp given that they've just deleted the Key, the only other way to off line authorise.
I don't know how many times you have to ask them to reset it brefore they freak out but paying for software that only allows X resets over how many years of use? Tha'ts pretty tight IMO.

Am I correct in my opinion that if something goes wrong with my ignition key, all I have to do is to purchase usb codemeter key as an replacement item and everything (Reason and Re's ) will continue to work fine ?mwdiers wrote: ↑28 Jan 2021So I don't get what's going on. I don't have an ignition key. I have a CodeMeter dongle that I have used for quite a while, and it contains both my Reason license, and my VPS Avenger license. Even with the latest version of Reason, running on Big Sur, it's working great. No login prompt when the key is plugged in.
May I ask you, what exactly should I get from them, since you have it ?

Thanks
P.S. I'm a Windows user if it's important
All those questions are why I think the miscommunication from RS is way worse than the invention of R+

They won’t fix this. They won’t do anything about it. They’ll do what they want as they always do. Once they’ve made the decision no matter what we say they won’t go back on t because then they’d be admitting they maybe had it wrong. That’s just the way it is. Learned the hard way. Maybe they’ll prove me wrong but they’ve never done it so far.

Could it be that they haven't done anything wrong so far?MrFigg wrote: ↑31 Jan 2021They won’t fix this. They won’t do anything about it. They’ll do what they want as they always do.
