I haven't found any good source on layering synths

Yeah do you mean layering synths to blend 2 sounds together to make a new sound or layering 2 synths to make the sound big?

Here's my take on layering:
1. do whatever you want...there are no 'proper rules'
2. select sounds the are varied to avoid phase issues
3. try not to use too many layers...it can get overwhelming quickly
4. the combinator is your best friend here
5. choose simple devices to get results quickly
On a side note...mysteriously... 4 or more layers is where magic happens. Probably, an effect of a type of counterpoint or something. YMMV

Actually I would question no2
you could have your pattern running through a patch and want a more pluck style layer to enhance the overall sound in which case duplicate the device and change the Attack Decay Sustain and Release to make it more plucky i.e. make them all quick then using midi at a different octave to add your extra pattern.
You will definitely want to eq both to allow space and you will probably want a group bus but it's just another way, as I said it depends what kind of layering your after.

lol it's just a little treat I like to call billys beer soaker, goes down really nice after 3 - 4 pints with the added advantage that after consumption you can sink a few more pints!
The secret is to pan fry the bacon until well done, start by placing 4 pieces of bacon in a frying pan without any oil and allow the fat to completely render. The rest is easy.
Two burgers, white onion, tomato & lettuce, your favourite sauce & cheese pre sliced, never try slicing cheese while pissed lol.
One tip would be to take the central bread remove the underside crust and toast both sides.
