When I company takes a risk like this, it is likely because they need a better flow of cash not to go under. If they go under, no one's complaints will make a difference. Besides from a foolish promotion, which left people uncertain as to what would happen to the usual approach, it is quite understandable if RS cannot rely on buyers who already own Reason and once in a while buy a RE or an upgrade every third year. Basically, RS is just fishing for an unknown amount of people who may appreciate cloud services. If they just had done their best to assure that this won't change a dime for traditional users, they may have avoided this rage. I mean, how many of you would be offended, if they had said "Hey, don't worry fans, everything will be as you know it, but we'd like to get hold of some stray cats out there". Would hardly be an offence to anyone, would it? However, if they actually had made any sign that future updates/versions will be subscription and online activation only, the shared rage would make more sense. Right now, it seems to be driven by paranoia. Chill, man.
