Stringwerk vs Friktion

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on these? Are they different enough to merit having both?
I used my trial of Stringwerk way back when it came out and planned to get it eventually. I never did. Now I have Friktion, but we are considering getting Stringwerk from the rewards store and I'm not sure if it's sort of obsolete with Friktion? Since I already did a trial I can't do another to compare directly myself. So I ask...
Are they an either/or situation?

Completely different. Stringwerk doesn't do solo instruments, and you're not going to get a convincing ensemble out of Friktion.

Thanks that makes total sense. Yeah, I just watched a video on Stringwerks and the difference is pretty clear.esselfortium wrote: ↑21 Nov 2020Completely different. Stringwerk doesn't do solo instruments, and you're not going to get a convincing ensemble out of Friktion.

Yea agree with above.
This is more akin to what Friction does or attempts to do . SWAM looks decent and is as far as i can tell similar to Friction..although Swam has a seperate solo intrument for each of the 4 string famiies (and will cost you more) i think friction attemts to do all 4 strings in one unit with the addition of incorporating the type of extra sound design possibilities that swam will struggle to do.
Advantages of having both Friction and Strigwerk is that you have decent ensemble and solo strings attached to your Reason account and if your doing any king of live performance with Reason then its a no brainer.
Swam together with more expensive (eg Spitfire ) string libaries will burn a hole in your pocket ...possiibly force you to have to buy Kontakt and also force you to store alot of the vast content on an external hardrive. It will however poassibly achieve alot more realistic string results.
Regardless i think you can get Stringwerk and Frction in a sale.....having those ready to go in your reason account is a massive bonus for alot of dufferent scenarios.

Or you can pay less than $10/month and not worry about deals on Friktion.

I think I'm going to merge this thread with the other thread asking about Friktion vs Stringwerk - posted the same day as this thread.

I already had Friktion when I asked this question and I really like the expressiveness of it and it's ability to be generate more synth like textures and ambience in addition to more natural instruments like strings and flute. But after looking into Stringwerks I did decide to use my Rewards to buy that also. So, now I have both and I think they are both useful and well worth it. Different tools for different things and I'm looking forward to using them together soon.iamthor4 wrote: ↑24 Nov 2020stringwerks is down to 49 bro i got it i dont get what the hype about friktion is tbhstillifegaijin wrote: ↑21 Nov 2020Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on these?
