So how many of you are holding out on the sales hoping you can buy a discounted copy of Friktion?

I've passed up on loads of disconnected vst's and rack extensions waiting for Friktion to go on sale.

Better to wait for it to go in a bundle Phill. You know it's going to happen. The truth will set you free.

Me. But I don't think it's gonna be discounted this Holiday season. To be honest, I doubt there will be any discounts at all from RS.

For all the beautiful noises and textures it makes.... It's more of a want, than a need.

I'm more of a drum machine/synth, guy.

However, I may pick it up if they make me an offer I can't refuse.

If it goes on sale, I'll get it. Otherwise, I'll wait until (if and when) I specifically need it for a track.

I am currently eyeing Plasmonic, which seem to use similar techniques, but with a freaking ugly GUI. I will see which one is better and suits my needs.

If your looking for drum sequencers have you checkout XO by XLN Audio.

I got the full version a while ago on a discount and it's excellent, but if your not worried about the extra drum samples I would say have a look at the lite version as the multi outs don't really matter as I prefer to bounce the individual tracks out one at a time so I can use the internal effects.

Huh? That's what multi-outs are for - to route sounds to separate tracks for individual FX processing.

But you don't get the internal fx on the individual outs only the master, so I bounce through the master instead of the separate outs ;)

Oh, I thougt you meant Reason's internal FX, not XO's :)

Yeah got that.

But the internals are fairly nice and you can always add reasons to the bounced audio tracks afterwards, so if your interested in XO but don't want all the extra samples the lite version is definitely a good option. I think I managed to get the full version for Β£80 ish.

I did trial it, but after 10 minutes I knew I would enjoy it so got it while it was on sale. The only issue is exporting all your refill one shots for the analyser to do its magic on - I haven't got that far yet but also having access to the massive included set I haven't felt the need to.

I also don't think I would need to buy any more drum samples anymore which is a bonus

Physical modelling, instead of samples - so they probably dont' sound as realistic, but you have much more control over the sound and expressions AND can make it sound NOT like string instrument, too.
