Glad to hear that. I remember when RE's where first announced, such a strange thing as a reason user since v1 and rebirth before that. Now we have a library that is filled with tons of innovative and creative plugins. Just one that comes to mind, Selig's Leveler, so straightforward to use and gives great results. Other than that, the many (often free) great CV and audio routing RE's.. The RE format has allowed for indie developers such as myself and others who love the creative process of making music to get more involved, to make the tools we want for ourselves as well as others.Imaginary191 wrote: ↑05 Nov 2020Really impressed with sound demos. I had some spare time, so did a quick remake of this great track, well the intro part xD
No patches used, just trying to quickly match the sound of the original.
This is one is one of the morningstar demos, unmastered project and I replaced some reverbs and delays with built in devices. Nothing extravagant, just some synth stuff.

Hi! I just published a clip of a track released and made using Morningstar if you want to check it out. I made the music myself with Morningstar in Reason, it started as a demo project (as it does most of the time) but is now released under my pseudonym Derek Strike on Auryn 64 Music. One of the main things that got me started on this track was the arpeggio player and using that in combination with keytracking the amp decay. [high notes, short]. Interesting sound.

Derek Strike just put out a bootleg extended remake/remix of Yazoo - Don't Go, amazing track... Made with Morningstar RE.
Oh! and edit to add:
We really love all the feedback and suggestions we've got so far with all of our projects, this is the link for that if you want ask us anything, go nuts https://www.skrockmusic.com/contact
As for myself, I'm still planning to do livestreams of me making music with our synths as well as other talented developers products, still working on sorting some latency issues and getting it right, I'm a big fan and supporter of many RE developers and it could be fun to talk about that as well. No planned date, but will post here when I know more.

Pulse Width in itself has gone from "actual pulse width" to more of a stretching a waveform in one cycle in either direction. It's not strange that pulse-width has been used on square waves, it's ON or OFF, and lengths, so pulse-width. These days we can (thankfully) do similar stuff with other waveforms, but theres a good reason why PWM became a thing in synthesis.Creativemind wrote: ↑27 Oct 2020Italophile wrote: ↑26 Oct 2020
No, not for an analog synth. Prophet 5 had PWM for all waveforms, as does Repro.
I just tried the U-He Repro-5 VST though and the Pulse Width only works on the Square oscillator. Same on Repro-1.

I wondered if you (or anyone else) could tell me, apart from sweeps / wooshes, what other uses would white noise (or other noise) be used for on a synth?

Gritty and ruff sounds. Good to give extra attack. Percussions.Creativemind wrote: ↑16 Feb 2021Skrock wrote: ↑16 Feb 2021

Ahh yes, percussive sounds, randomisation and woodwind instrument type sounds.Carly(Poohbear) wrote: ↑17 Feb 2021An Impulse on Modeled synths.

Noise can be very beneficial in all kinds of music. For oldschool drums, snares, claps, hats, sweeps.. and so on. Using a VA or real analog noise capable synth adds to the (beautiful?) randomness that a straight up noise sample will not give you. There are ways around that of course, randomising start positions etc, but there are many types of noise, white, red, noise with a slight hum(analog equipment crosstalk).Creativemind wrote: ↑17 Feb 2021Ahh yes, percussive sounds, randomisation and woodwind instrument type sounds.Carly(Poohbear) wrote: ↑17 Feb 2021

One very important use of noise is in recreating that interference, crosstalk, and emulating analog equipment. Recording tracks on tapes was standard back in the day, and many still do just to capture that sound. It's all about harmonics really. Too clean can sound unnatural, the world is analog and dirty If you feel a track sounds flat, a bit of noise can help, not much, just a tad, whatever a tad might be
Edit: My grandfather worked in radio here in Sweden, so naturally I have one of his old Sony tape recorders and a box of tapes. I've transferred a few albums of music that I like on those tapes and some of it gains alot of charm, some not so much.

What a beautiful sounding synth this is!
I can't figure out what the PW (0-24) option on the top is for?!

Good question, It's for the Pitch Wheel. So the range is anything between and up to two octaves (24 semi).
