I've seen some re-drawn native devices recently that look stellar, so I'm very much looking forward to it—just like you!
I can’t wait to see Thor in its new HD glory ! I’m sure people will look at Reason with a new ear when HD-graphics rack is released :P

oh, man, hadn't thought about that, but you're probably right. I could maybe even get past Thor's ugly, bloated ass, if it looks really nice with the new update (no offense to those who love Thor—just IMO). now I'm looking forward to seeing what all the old devices look like, anew. 😁

@Reason Studios.

You probably are well into it and have things figured out, but one possibility to do this would be to just convert all framework to vector based graphics - possibly a pixelated approximation of the original masks - enabling automatic conversion of any 3rd party rack extension as well, and then you can also enable blurred overlay for the old school muddy look for those who still wish to have it. It might loose some old school charm, but it will be much more fluid and useful.

Oh, i can already see, read and hear all the moaning and ranting... Weird, that while Waves did it this year, most user were quite happy with the blurry stuff. If i want something blurry, i leave the tears in my eyes.

I've heard using "AI" for upscaleing badly pixelated graphics is the new hot sh*it in the block. ;)

I'm starting to lose hope :(

Every time I fire up Reason or insert a Reason Rack VST in Bitwig or S1 I get hit in the face with its low-res, fuzzy image. I'm not a teenager anymore
Soon...

Awesome! Can't way to get home and see them

Although, I have to say it's a bit dissapointing it's only recently they started working on this, considering they've been demanding REs to come in 5K assets already since 2015 or thereabouts...

I disable display scaling for Reason, it looks better and you have more space to work on the rack. So it runs at native res on a 1440p screen with no issues.

That's fine if you have a big monitor.

Try that on a 15'' laptop screen, where Bitwig, Studio One or Live run without issues at 125% scaling.

I hope the upcoming scaling will have fixed values - 100, 110, 125, 150 % without scaling with the mouse wheel. And - yes, everything looks great on the 27 inch monitor 2560x 1440 !

Well, I don't think we ever got an answer for this, i.e. which of the 2 options we're gonna get:
- like Live, Bitwig or FL Studio - where GUI is scaled independently from screen resolution & OS scaling
- like Studio One or Cubase - where GUI scaling follows OS scaling, or can be disabled to be at screen's resolution

Obviously the former would be preferable, but high-res & GPU accelerated GUI will be enough for 1st iteration ;) :D

While we're waiting...

Anyone tried this utility?
https://12noon.com/?page_id=80

I noticed that - surprisingly - on my laptop Reason looks much, MUCH sharper and consistent when I force the screen to 1600*900 resolution, instead of doing 125% scaling on the native 1920x1080.

I'll report back when I test it.

It works great - switches to 900p when I launch Reason, switches back to 1080p when I close it! Game changer for me! :o

Nice! So does it improve Reason's "blurriness" issue in a case like this?

Yes, very much so. Obviously it still isn't native, but much better. But obviously one can try it without this utility. Just change your screens resolution. It only makes this process "invisible".

see? don’t give up hope. :D just going to take time for them to get right—which I think most of us can be confident that they will.
Yep. I suppose it's one of those "good things come to those who wait" scenarios.
