Go back in time with Morningstar RE
Morningstar RE is designed for lush pads, big leads, dreamy keys and fat bass sounds. Every visible knob, fader and button on Morningstar is placed in a layout that feels open and gives you everything you need to create your sound with a fluidity most often only available on analog hardware synths. And if you do want to dig deeper, the built in Matrix opens up access to even more control of the filters, oscillators, envelopes and more. Morningstar is designed to keep your creativity flowing, to let you stay in that zone where anything is possible.
Designed with these key features in mind:
- Analog style synthesizer with fast hands on controls and deep programming features
- 3 oscillators with Saw|Square|Triangle|Sine|Self Osc Mode and 1 Noise oscillator
- PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation) modes for each wave
- Unique Filter Module: State Variable, combined with a multi-mode Ladder filter
- Separate Amp Envelopes for each oscillator that can be locked to Amp Env 1
- Analog style Mono and Legato modes and up to 10 voices polyphony
- Effects purposely designed to complement, not complicate your sound
- Modulation Matrix with access to even more controls for advanced sound design
- 4 CV inputs for external modulation
Nice, a new Skrock!

aw, if you’re gonna post about a new RE, at least have the common decency to include a link.

I have most of their synths a like them a lot, but I am not buying anything that is not on sale until after all the Black Friday and holiday sales. After that, I will evaluate what I still really want.

Hi!
I was happy to see this posted here
We've been working for about a year on restructuring the prototyping and design process, the first result is this new synth. Tuning and other knobs follows exponential curves for wide but easy fine tuning and the idea was to make the synth feel super natural and intuitive to use. Something that doesn't require five minutes of tinkering when in the middle of the creative process of actually making music.
I made a few videos that I hope inspires other people when using the synth. Just have fun with it!

I got the trial and put some 60 seconds together with 4 Morningstars and some delay...

Ultimate mixing noob with medical certified lowpass at 9,6 kHz

Music is that certain noise you can remember three minutes later...and vice versa.

All the demos sound exceptionally good! So much so that I think including a download of one or more of the project files might help boost sales. Providing the customer with insight into the subtle changes that went into some of those tracks and their resultant effect on the overall piece would be highly valuable. Not sure how one would implement this in the Shop, where it would be the most effective, though. Regardless, great work all around!Skrock wrote: ↑23 Oct 2020Hi!

Not a bad idea, thanks! I could post some stuff here of course. The tracks are made in Reason 11 but the synth is compatible from Reason 9 and up. So the project files would unfortunately still, only open in version 11. But I'll look into itloopeydoug wrote: ↑24 Oct 2020

And include a video demonstrating the Re too on the Reason Studio's product page.

Wouldn't the PWM dial be non-valid for all oscillators but square?
Nice looking synth btw and the SoundCloud examples sound nice.

No, not for an analog synth. Prophet 5 had PWM for all waveforms, as does Repro.

Running Repro-5 through an oscilloscope suggests only the square wave responds to PWM, unless I'm doing something wrong hereItalophile wrote: ↑26 Oct 2020

I just tried the U-He Repro-5 VST though and the Pulse Width only works on the Square oscillator. Same on Repro-1.

Have a look at little LFO, pulse width for all shapes and you can get so nice unusual shapes with it.Creativemind wrote: ↑27 Oct 2020Italophile wrote: ↑26 Oct 2020

MorningStar is a fun synth, I have done some patches for it which should be included with it in a future release.

I added this video to the shop page https://youtu.be/n3547wVBrBg
I also plan to do some kind of livestream demo or similar, just doing some music from scratch, if people would find it interesting to watch.
Every waveform has PWM. s(M)exoscope is a free VST you can use if you want to see the waveform output in realtime http://bram.smartelectronix.com/plugins.php?id=4
I designed all the waveforms to have PWM but not go overboard with some digital craziness, it's suposed to be subtle and gentle. The whole synth is supposed to feel airy and open for experimentation.
Turning a knob shouldn't result in something radical, well, unless it sounds good that is

If you or anyone else makes any music with it, I'd be happy to hear it, as the developer I've had my perspective from the start, but the synth is in your hands now.

Hi guys, I recorded a session of me just making stuff with Morningstar. The loopback introduced some latency so don't expect too much in terms of precision, but 35 mins of me using Morningstar
It's how I usually make a track, start with some melody, work at it, build on it for a few days. I just wanted to show you how I start that process. Happy music making
I'm looking into on how to do some kind of live stuff in the future, and not just with Morningstar. One thing that is a big improvement is DSP usage in this synth without losing quality. Thats why it goes up to 10 voices.

Really impressed with sound demos. Plan to buy it on BF as I need to save money at the moment.
