I just bought the Parsec 2.0 rack extension, and looking around YouTube and other places, there seems to be a scant amount of tutorials, some of which are actually of Parsec 1.0. I've been playing with it for a few hours, making some patches and it seems pretty decent.

I am just wondering if there are other people out there in the Reason community who either love it or don't have a use for it.

I love it. You can get to some other-wordly sounds with it very easily.

I would be interested to know if anyone can advise or vet a particular ReFill for Parsec?

Too rarly tbh. Everytime i use it, i would like to have bigger displays and a bigger mod matrix, maybe some additional LFO and envelopes. As soon as the fun starts, the limits are reached. Guess thats why it become too much dust in my rack atm.

I've used it from time to time. I like it. I really should explore it more though and incorporate it in more songs.

I jumped on 1.0 when it came out and still use it now and again but I don't think the 2.0 version is worth the upgrade price, still a great synth for certain things though.

Parsec is awesome! The lack of Parsec 2 tutorials is probably because the upgrade from 1 to 2 hardly goes on sale, lol. Seriously though it’s fairly easy to get unique sounds out of it in a short amount of time.

I don't think it has ever gone on sale, I would upgrade for sure if it did.

I like the clean sound it produces... but I don’t think I’ve used it in a project.

I have used it and like it but it has its place and that place is not needed in every project. It is good to have, and I should learn it properly someday.

A sweet soundscape, solo or paired with PX7.

It really excels at weird unconventional sounds. Lately I've found Nostromo to be my go to synth for that purpose though.

You might find more refills for version 1 out there; doesn't really matter since Parsec version 1 patches will work on version 2.

Here are 148MBs of Parsec v1 pataches (free) from Lectric Panda (their "Generates" randomization patch creation project). Definitely worth checking out. And it's free! http://www.lectricpanda.com/Lectric%20P ... Parsec.rfl
The rest of the "generates" refills are absolutely worth checking out, too. Especially the Dual Arps refills!! All can be found here http://www.lectricpanda.com/

Can't go wrong with Navi Retlav refills, in my opinion. Here are some Parsec v1` refills. There is a free "RE" demo refill at the bottom and it's got some Parsec demo patches in it, just to give you a sample of the NRS flavor. https://naviretlav.com/search?q=parsec
Players are to MIDI what synthesizers are to waveforms.

I don't use it as much as I should - thanks for the reminder!

My favourite patch is TurnItUp Pad, really nice.

I find it to be a good synth for vocoding too.

It can be great for pad-type sounds on occasion (using the ensemble modifiers).. i pile two into a combi because parsec can sound a bit thin. it's a bit like malstrom though in that you often have to spend quite a bit of time eqing out all the 'bad' frequencies.

I particularly like running external audio through it and using it to manipulate the signal.

I should give Parsec more love. No question.
