Native Instruments Maschine Plus Standalone? Leaks!! Reaction
Not an MPC owner. Not a Maschine MK3 owner. After watching and learning about the Maschine ecosystem, between the too, I would get the +

Admittedly, if I didn't already own an MPC Live 2, now that I've seen more of what the + can do I would be very tempted by the + (the lack of large touch screen and battery notwithstanding). I mean let's face it: Native Instrument's sheer sound library size, quality, and catalog of sound content just makes Akai look like total amateurs. They just can't compete, and never will on that level.
If NI releases an actual Maschine+ that has a built-in battery, it might be the one single thing that makes me jump ship. I guess I could make due without the touchscreen if I have to.
Win 10 | Ableton Live 11 Suite | Reason 12 | i7 3770k @ 3.5 Ghz | 16 GB RAM | RME Babyface Pro | Akai MPC Live 2 & Akai Force | Roland System 8, MX1, TB3 | Dreadbox Typhon | Korg Minilogue XD
NI needs some options to include in the Maschine++EnochLight wrote: ↑05 Oct 2020Admittedly, if I didn't already own an MPC Live 2, now that I've seen more of what the + can do I would be very tempted by the + (the lack of large touch screen and battery notwithstanding). I was looking into the MPC One, and the Force. Then I was curious about the MK3. Then NI announced the +
Do we need to jump ship? Yes, if we need to finance a new tool, but maybe not if we can afford to go back and forth between multiple workflows. Creativity is the key. The journey.
Things that annoy me with the new boxes are:
The need to talk to the NI mothership before you do anything with the gear you just got.
Both, Maschine and MPC, give you a restaurant menu of perfectly curated packaged beats (maybe there is the option to avoid this).
Old school MPCs and others, you were presented with emptiness in the machine, and your boxes of floppies with samples you had to hunt yourself. It's true sample CDs were a thing, and you got hit decades later by a Copyright holder. Perfectly curated packaged beats are great in that case
OK, that's too philosophical maybe. Anyway, I don't think one is better than the other one if you have a good time creating with any of them.
I love the square design of the MK3/+
