This might be cheating but I did technically record this in Reason.
Hardware instruments used: Behringer TD-3, Roland TB-3, Roland JV-2080, Roland Alpha Juno-1, Korg Electribe ER-1 (sequencer only), Korg Volca Beats, Waldorf Blofeld Module, E-MU ESI-2000, E-MU Proteus/1, Kawai K1r.
Hardware effects built-in reverb on my Behringer UB222FX mixer, Boss DD-7 Delay, Digitech MSP4, Zoom Studio 1204, Rat 2, Alesis 3630, and some generic analog delay pedal...
This take is much better! I changed the lead and the secondary acid line and the mix is less crowded now...

Cool. I liked the first 2 minutes the most. After that things got a bit too messy for me for my taste, like there were too much stuff going on at once.

When working live it might take multiple takes to get it just right... I'm gonna play with it some tomorrow...TritoneAddiction wrote: ↑21 Mar 2020Cool. I liked the first 2 minutes the most. After that things got a bit too messy for me for my taste, like there were too much stuff going on at once.

I had messed up when recording as I had the wrong pattern selected on my TD-3... so I had to re-record the track. This one is more minimal than my last track though...
Yesterday I had accidentally grabbed the tune knob which ruined that take... and today I use the wrong pattern entirely... lol

The sound is bangin and what it should be. The thing as a whole is lacking something.
Intermissions/drops/more subtraction? Maybe tell a story?

It's supposed to be minimal... it's done live... and I'm not sure on which track you meant with what you said... I happen to like minimal techno so eh...
You ever hear the first acid track "Acid Trax" by Phuture, it's even more minimal than this. Just a single 303 and a drum machine.

Sorry I meant the second one. Intermissions/drops/ and subtractions in arrangement are just movement, ways to shift the listener's focus and achieve better expressiveness without introducing new instruments, but through their timed absence. Bad advice?TheDragonborg wrote: ↑23 Mar 2020It's supposed to be minimal... it's done live... and I'm not sure on which track you meant with what you said... I happen to like minimal techno so eh...

And I believe that "how" music was made should be of no concern to the listener. If I'm not sure if the music is good or not, I just close my eyes and BAM! Tash Sultana is mediocre at best.
If my comments are annoying, I would appreciate you taking revenge on my track that I posted

But there are "Intermissions/drops/ and subtractions" I only have so many hands you know... lol
Adding more sounds would have detracted from this track in my opinion... it's just a straight up no nonsense acid techno track...

A little teaser of a Hardfloor inspired acid track I am working on:

Nice psychedelic vibe. The mix sounds very nice. Good use of the reverbs. It catches the listener and gives you a nice trip. Very repeative, but it works well in this song. Well done!

New track... techno this time:

I enjoyed this but found it a bit chaotic, it puts me in the mind of early Eat Static tracks. I'd recommend trying to get the kick a bit more prominent in the mix.

I can't it I recorded live. I'd have to do a new take as I only record the stereo out since I use an analog mixer. Track is done.

Just released another album! This one full of acid, techno and electro! Most of the tracks were recorded live but two (Abandoned Warehouse and I Want Utopia Not Dystopia) that were recorded before I had a hardware sequencer.
