So... I'm not a film director, screenplay writer, or actor - but I can appreciate and easily judge good films and bad films. Similarly, my guitar "playing" is pretty basic, but I can totally tell a talented guitarist and appreciate their talents, easily telling great guitarists (such as Jimi Hendricks, BB King, Carlos Santana, etc) and pretty bad ones (me).

So let me go on record and say: some of the "beats" I see users sharing here demonstrating Maschine+ are pretty.... MEH.

The Maschine review users are also avoiding playing the demo songs attached to the sound packs. Some not so good humans decided to use them as their own, on Spotify and elsewhere. I've learned about that when watching the other stream on the +. When you are on Youtube demoing the Maschine, you could get hit by a Copyright strike. Now their beat programming sucks, yes, but I wonder if it's not because some not so good humans would steal their beats, and strike them back with their own music. A quick play on his channel tells me he's a cool music producer. The new clip stuff sounds cool since I know nothing about the Maschine Universe.

Oh I'm not doubting his integrity as a human - totally seems like a nice fella. I'm just saying, often watching "demo videos" is akin to being an employee at Guitar Center and listening to someone who is looking at a guitar "play" for an hour. It can be painful.

I agree. Bad beats force me to focus on the tech side of the reviews even more.

Most of the reviewers make pretty bland music... Like Bob eats. Only one I've seen that makes music that I actually like is Ricky tinez. And of course stimming, but he doesn't count cause he's not primarily a YouTube reviewer.

Tinez: great beats, great reviews with a great calming atmosphere.

I've actually bought swag to support Ricky Tinez's channel - his stuff is great. Also Accurate Beats is pretty good, as is (formally known as) MPC Head (now Marlow Digs). I love Loopop's reviews - the best on YouTube IMHO, but his music is "eh". Red Means Recording is fantastic at demo'ing his wares/music, though.

Had to pause to comment here: (paraphrasing) the touch screen is an advantage of the mpc one for certain tasks like naming tracks. Then presses a couple of characters and nothing gets written on the screen 😂😂😂

NI should implement an autocomplete option with a built in dictionary, for a handful of Kb.
I love the word generator in Figure.
it's a nice random password generator too, but

Not really.

The One wins on the large touch display (hands down - I seriously don't know why Maschine-heads like two tiny displays like that), arguably has an easier to understand workflow for those who don't have either, makes editing on your sequencer much faster with the touch screen, and easily wins in cost, IMHO.

Where the + does win is the included content - the plugins are easily leagues ahead of the 3 meager MPC plugins.

I do find the screen on the MPC does require more effort to press the QWERTY keys when you're naming things. It's weird, because otherwise it's super responsive in all other aspects.

Enoch, the point regarding the instruments is the main and most important reason why the akai are inferior. Also I've heard bad things about the touch screen they sport, and about them freezing often. Also the internal battery, if not easily replaceable, makes me question the device longevity... 🤷‍♂️ The + is winning by a long shot to me.

What about the Akai Force? Is this still a thing? On YT most relevant videos have stopped uploading a year ago, looks like.

"You can time stretch it up to 64 bit.." 🤔

It's all personal preference, for sure. And no, the touch screens are fine - they don't freeze often. You only hear about the handful of people who have hardware failure issues, not the tens of thousands that are fine. But true, the internal battery isn't easily replaceable - that's something that would likely need to be outsourced when that day comes. I'm glad Maschine+ came out - all you Maschine heads will get to experience what us standalone MPC heads have been doing for years (not needing to drag along a computer). It's a win-win for everyone!

Force is still a thing, but the firmware updates have dragged on and the long promised feature of an Arranger never appeared... yet. ;) Word on the street is that the current Force beta firmware is almost done for release candidate and will be adding some long requested features.
