I'm firmly in the "wait for a sale" camp with pretty much everything these days. A couple of years ago I decided to stop buying and start focusing on deep dives into the gear I already have - instruments, FX, utilities, refills, the lot - and apart from a couple of small purchases & freebies, I haven't been seriously tempted since then. Didn't buy anything for the last couple of Black Fridays. Haven't even updated to Reason 11, I mean Suite looks fantastic but again, it's really just more toys

Friktion looks amazing but there's no hurry

I'm not buying anything until they arrive with the scalable graphics. Especially not for the premium they are asking.

Yes, I will get it eventually but not at EUR99. From all I've heard and saw it sounds and works awesome!

There's something about it that really peaks my interest but there's always something more important to pay for.
Perhaps if it wasn't included in Suite but was available at a discount for those who have/will buy it I might be interested in killing 2 birds with 1 stone.
@pushedbutton on twitter, add me, send me a message, but don't try to sell me stuff cos I'm skint.
Using Reason since version 3 and still never finished a song.

The fact that there wasn’t an intro sale is another major turn off. Mark it down 20-25% and tell people it won’t be on sale for another year and they’d get way more takers.

I might buy on sale someday. I could use a nice Celtic harp sound. How is it for harps? Can you add an arp to the harp and play it in C sharp?

I wonder if anyone can get a message to Ryan or Mattias before today's stream to put us out of our misery over a possible inclusion of Friktion in a future upgrade update or suite release.
from facebook...

Friktion's not included in Reason Suite, no, and there are no such plans.
We don't know if there would be a Reason 12 Suite either, we're still evaluating the concept. There definitely won't be a Reason 12 this year though. /Mattias
As I'd expect. Friktion is not a stock Reason device and Reason 12 won't be out till about March / April next year I wouldn't expect. Which reminds me, where the hell is this GUI update, any of you psychic Reasontalkers know? :-D

Just curious since there's some hype around Friktion right now. Looks like many people are interested in it.
Feel free to comment on what motivated your answer.
I will buy it soon. There should be plenty of inspiration hiding in this RE waiting to get out and should be worth the money. I'll add it to the approximately $2000 +/- I've spent with Props since version 1. Even though it would seem they could sell 5 times as many copies with a 75% discount.

Went from a "waiting for a better deal" to a "bought it already" vote.
I remembered I already got the deal with Suite

Been bit by picking up 1st party REs only to have them included on Reason updates way too many times, with no discount offered for having done so. Won't be buying any Reason Studios REs, even on sale, as long as they are unwilling/unable to offer discounts for supporting them between Reason updates. Hell, I'd even buy at full price it they'd just offer *something* as a discount (on full Reason updates) for doing so.

No I won't.

For $139 Canadian, it's a hard pass. Especially in these hard economic times.

I trialed the RE for a bit and was just meh, the patches are lackluster and thin sounding. There's a few descent ones, but I have a million other RE's and Refill libraries. The patches in this RE reminded of the sounds of Parsec.

I do however appreciate the beautiful instrument design by Reason Studios and love seeing these new instruments. They seem to be the leaders in Synth design.

I've learned my lesson of not buying anymore high priced synths, I've got all I need for life. However, the desire is still there, like a collector, if these instruments were cheaper I would certainly be more tempted.

this looks great, but unfortunately like others have said, i wouldn't buy it or rent to own, at some point it will be yet another RE in a bundle that makes said bundle a better deal for someone who doesn't own it already. Its just the way it is with Reason Studios. Its a guarantee. But before that bundle comes round it will be 50% off, even complex1 was $50 after about half a year ( it hasn't been as cheap again ) i put $30 into Complex1 and then it was $50 in a sale, that along with the bundle fiascos is enough to keep me too weary to buy. Also, lets be honest, we are all as likely to make a great song without Friktion as we are with it 😂

Yep. I think more kittens were had at the release of Complex-1 too (by which I mean it was a really exciting GAS-inducing release). That one came out in December 2018, went half price during May Madness 2019 (when I picked it up) and I still remember thinking that I'd mismanaged my finances when it joined the Suite bundle 4 months later (which is the best value/most exciting of all of the Reason things).

Worth noting that PX7 is not included in R11 Suite. Proof of concept that we can't take Friktion's inclusion in our imagined bundles for granted. Mattias has said explicitly that nothing's confirmed for a R12 Suite at this point, and there certainly won't be one this year, anyhow. It could be a long wait.

I don't doubt that a lot of love, care and skill went into this one. It's always a bit awkward setting prices, and trying to squish creative work into a capitalist growth model (or a grassroots 'let's make a living' plan). There must be so many forces pushing and pulling at the makers. I expect on some level, they'd love it if everybody in the world had it for free and wanted to buy them drinks and tell them how amazing they are, but that won't pay rent. We show our appreciation in other ways, like saying, 'Hey guys, this is incredible - I support your work to the tune of [this much money]." I think for me, for this one synth, €49 would be an easy decision, and I expect the executive team knew this when the RRP was set.

Yeah i would have bought it ( Complex1) at 1/2 price if i wasn't doing a rent to own ... stopped the rent to own and never bought it, i thought I'd have finished the rent to own before it went on sale.

PX7 is the anomaly, maybe someone else helped develop it and gets a say?

I do agree its hard to price software. We all have to put food on the table and not many people will be happy throwing away $50 in 6months buying Complex1 full price. If not enough units are sold full price then that might help developers re think what there software is worth, as ultimately we decide as consumers if its worth the asking price.

I also got burned with Complex1 rent to own and that sale that popped up. And I would have bought PX7 and Parsec 2 if they were on sale for black Friday but they weren't so I bought Arturia V collection instead and got hooked on their eco system instead. Reason Studios marketing is terrible.

I have been demoing it and like it. If there had been an intro price I would buy it right now. It would have been nice if there had been a loyalty discount for those of us who have bought so many of their products, especially during such a challenging time.

In a way I am glad there isn't. My guess is that right now it feels like a shiny new essential toy. It won't feel that way in a month. I have some decent string libraries and decent FX and I can put them together to get pretty much the same results as Friktion. It takes a couple of extra clicks, but saves me a lot of money.

I will probably buy it during the inevitable sale. Thank you RS guys for helping me with GAS.

I have been a customer for way too long to actually expect these things. I just like saying them as a form of therapy.

The RE is nice, but I'm not buying anything until they change their cuckolding stance on the DAW itself.

I still like this a lot, but I do not love it enough to buy right now. I started by being completely impressed with it and would have instantly bought with some kind of intro price, but like most new products after using this for a while the sound does not quite blow me away. Again, I like it enough to buy on sale, whenever that might by. Thank you again to RS for helping me with my GAS.
