Before few days I realized, that I'm using Reason from 20 years.
This is anniversary!
I used Reason from version 1.5 'till now.

Through these years I used many DAWs, virtual synts and samplers, VSTs...etc.
But all my tracks were made with Reason!

All DAWs have pros. and cons.
But for me "more limits = more creativity".

Many people say, that lack of devices stops their creativity.
Look what can be done with ONE SubTractor and ONE PEQ-2: (look at the attached archive)

It's been about 17 for me. Doesn't feel that long.

I started with

Reason 2.5

Released in 2003, Version 2.5 added new effects devices such as the RV7000 Advanced Reverb, BV512 Digital Vocoder, and Scream 4 Sound Destruction Unit. Three smaller devices, the UN16 Unison, and Spider Audio router and Spider CV router added to the 1/2 rack-sized units.

So at least 17 year for me. I've still got the boxes & stickers plus the original USB dongle from version 6 and my last upgrade was 11 suite

You are unique if you started on v1.5! ;)

I knew the program, the soundbank and the free refills very well back then. Now I have so many tools but barely know so many of them.

My 20 year anniversary will be Dec 2021

It’s been 17 years for me as well. I started on version 2. A friend of mine gave me his license and then version 2.5 came out, so I upgraded to that immediately. I also bought Logic, but all in all Reason is my go to DAW. Before Props got rid of their forum, I got every refill they had. My sadness comes when they would start a new median and then stop supporting them. Yet if there is a Reason 25 I believe I will have it. Thanks for the memories Reason and may you live long and prosper.

My mistake - not 1.5, but 1.0

I started with a cracked version of 2.5 but was also using other DAW because I always made guitar music and reason was not right for that until version 4 and record so that is my first official version I use bought

Version 1 for me. I was an avid Rebirth user so it made sense to get Reason pretty much as soon as it came out. Don't know what year it was though. Still got the discs, plus those for all the subsequent versions..

Yeah I thought (Wikipedia) that Reason was released in December 2000 so no-one could've been using it 20yrs?

I think I started before 2.0, but I don't think I started with 1.0. Was there a 1.5? I remember being excited about the Maelstrom and NNXT coming out in 2.0. But the release history says midi control wasn't added until 2.0 and I don't remember ever using Reason without a midi keyboard. Hmmmm....I guess it was a long time ago.

Same experience. I know new devices much worse than I once knew all Reason's stock devices.

Yes, that's quite some time.
I started on R1 somewhere in 2001. It gave me a voucher for a free upgrade to Reason 2.0, that was planned for early 2002.

I still like it a lot. And what I think is fairly unique, the program still opens the files made in 2001!!

Cheers on the next 20 years:D

lol it's been so long I decided to get my boxes out and it turns out I was running it since version 1

The box is still in perfect condition with cds and manual

That's a version one box / 2 upgrade then 6 7 8 9 upgrades. I've gone with digital only since.

So I must be hitting 20 years...

Version 1.0 was released Nov. 2000 (according to Reasonistas.com).
So you ARE hitting 20 years.
Congratulations!

I wonder if Reason Studio will give me proper MIDI support and a free upgrade for my anniversary gift
