MPC Beats is your entry point into beat making. Inspired by the legendary MPC workflow, this free software has everything your need to make professional sounding beats.
Inlcudes:
- 2 audio tracks
- 8 MIDI tracks (that can contain one-shot & chromatic samples, of course)
- 3 plugin synths (bass, poly, keys)
- lots of FX
- 2GBs of sound packs
- VST compatible

Well, because it's in the wrong section :D

Sure, it can be used as a plugin too, but it's a full fledged (demo) of a DAW. And for me it's a blessing, because I can now check the workflow & sounds before buying MPC Live or One, which I planned anyway :)

What are its restrictions compared to the full thing?

It tells nothing about the difference because I do not know what the full thing has.

Then why do you care? It's free, anyways.

The only limitation appears to be the track count.

Could be useful as a sequencer for drums inside Reason or another daw though, no? Plus that famed akai swing, no? A bit of workflow switching for keeping things interesting :)

Would it be good for a 10 year old to start playing with making music on the computer for the first time?

No. :)

Give a 10 year old Reason. That’s what I did and she’s making beats a tunes just fine. :)
I think the problem I have with all these other DAWs is that they are in no way as intuitive as Reason. Reason just makes sense.

😱

I rather my nephew starts with something free, and if he shows commitment to music making, I'll consider buying it for him. I'm not going to spend money on something he might not use, you know?
