Nice track, I can tell you spent some time on the production and arrangement. I really like how you break it down and build it back up. Some really good stuff in there.

I prefer the music over the vocals though. I don't mind them, but if it were someone a little less classic sounding, I probably would enjoy it even more....that's not to say I think the vocals are bad by any means. It's almost too nice sounding for me I tend to listen to vocalists who sing less legato, basically singers who aren't as trained.

wow, thank you! I'm nowhere near a trained vocalist, so that's a huge compliment.

and I definitely understand the sentiment. I used to feel the same about this kind of singing, since it was never really favored by many of the rock acts I grew up listening to. that changed the first time I heard Dredg's El Cielo album. it fundamentally altered my entire perspective on music. that album has been a huge influence in just about everything I've done since, and it's why I put so much effort into the arrangement.

The vocal is what grabbed me. Shades of The Mission or a host of other late-80s acts. Not to be derivative but because it is about beauty and delivering the human emotion through a slightly flawed voice.

Musically it is getting more complex than the average Pop song, more like Marillion "Season's End". Again a good thing in my book as one-note songs rarely develop any beauty or humanity.

I will await the album with interest.

this will be one of the poppier songs on the album. it gets quite a bit more complex in spots, but I always try to balance depth and accessibility—it can sometimes seem like a binary choice between the two, but they’re not mutually exclusive. lots in store.
