Nice freebie! I've been playing with it for an hour or so and it seems to be a little less than the sum of its parts, but maybe I need to explore further

Been playing with it all night. I can't believe this is free. This is a freaking DREAM for ambient music. On piano it is just GORGEOUS. Also sounds pretty amazing on supersaws.

Man, it's been a good year for free VSTs.

I'm a huge fan of ValhallaDSP stuff. UberMod has been my go-to for ambient stuff for years. Played around with Supermassive a bit and I'm in love with it. Might end up replacing UberMod! Seriously crazy that it's free.

And if you don't already have it, grab FreqEcho. It's also free and great.

Thanks for the heads-up... while the GUI design of Valhalla are extremely basic visually I really respect them for that... nothing as silly as those hyper 3D-modled GUIs with way to much going on or pointless animations (I don't mean scopes or other visualizers).

I wonder how this compares to XenoVerb (currently my favorite reverb plugin).

The tail modulation can get wonky, but putting a PhoenixVerb after with a Plate and blend them in, wow! This combo eats every reverb for lunch  (That is if you want BIGGER than life reverbs). Synapse DR-1 is really nice but it sounded like Fiat 500 vs a Ferrari Testarossa when I blew in some big analog brassy stuff.

The main unique effect sounds really nice and AFAIU it is by shortening the delay samples. This should also be possible with Fritz, since it can also shorten or increase the length of the delay/grain buffer. Nevertheless, one of the better freebies in the last time, at least something unique sounding to add to the fx library :-D

Definitely read the blog posts to get some more understanding of what is happening and what the controls do. Use it in series with other delays and reverbs.

I think it's awesome. I think it's really cool to see Valhalla leaning so heavily into unreal/impossible delay/reverb territory with this. While it's not going to be a go-to for delay & reverb, I think as a super spacey creative effect it's got a lot of potential... and that's not even when you consider how it sounds when you combine it with Valhalla Delay or DR-1, damn.

One of these days I really ought to check out Valhalla Room & Plate because I've been super impressed with everything I've tried by them so far.

edit: it's also incredibly refreshing to see a company not relying on sales or discounts as a marketing strategy.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of that too.
