Ok, I know what bothers me about the GUI - the shadows below knobs / sliders are diffused and actually less defined the closer they are to the object that's casting them. The only ones looking right are the ones for "stick" switches.

This makes it look like the knobs / sliders are FLOATING above the surface of the synth. Just compare it to any native device in Reason, where the shadows are solid or at the very least they get diffused the further they get from the object.

I love the look of the synth.

I only wish that it shook, and knobs and faders wobbled/vibrated when it is played. Wouldn't that be awesome? ;)

Yeah, the design is great but the issue I describe above sets it apart from practically any other device in the Rack and - as said - makes it look weird, because you "know" the knobs & sliders don't float, but you "see" that they do.

Compare it with shadows on e.g. Complex-1

This actually made me load up Rob Papen's SubBoomBass and fire that over some REB basslines. Never used SubBoomBass before and certainly had never thought of using it to enhance a preexisting bassline but it works a treat.

You're definitely right. Although the device and the parts themselves look very nice the shadows kinda bug me.

Next week I think. I don't remember the exact date I set the sale to. So at least 7 days away.

I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't mentioned it. But yeah the shadows are drawn as if the knobs were floating on top. Thankfully the Reason GUI is tiny and most people won't notice.

Also, and I only notice it because of having created knobs/shadows myself, the shadows are slightly clipped at the "box" around the animation frame. You can see it cuts off above the text and to the bottom right of the shadow, which happens when you don't create a large enough frame or create too large/diffused a shadow. Hardly a deal breaker on any level, but that's where my "designer eye" goes right away! ;)

Looks very interesting at any rate, and I'll judge it on sound (once I get a chance to try it) rather than appearance any day!

Hi guys!

My friend and I have done a rework on some of the GUI and the shadows should look better now. The transposing knobs have also been moved to the oscillator level so that note CV can be modified with octave, semiton and fine tune.

Cheers,
Adam

I did a quick comparison:

Subtractor --> MClass Comp --> Synapse AF-4 Lowpass --> MClass Maximizer

vs.

AutoSub

They are quite close (see Spectrum - top: Subtractor + FX, bottom: AutoSub); but AutoSub is somewhat cleaner. And that's probably the little difference keeping your low end tidy.

The attached project file contains the complete setup. No RE's except for AF-4, LP Spektrum, and AutoSub (obviously).
