Bold is always on?

I don't know if it's just me or if anyone else is experiencing this, or if there's a setting somewhere that I've overlooked, but I've been having an issue for a year or so.
I see all the text in posts in bold font, i e adding the bold tag to a chunk of text won't make any difference.

I'm on Safari 12.1.2, macOS 10.12.6 (Sierra).
I've been searching through my forum settings, Safari settings and global Accessibility settings, but to no avail.

Does it happen on other websites or forums? I have similar specs to you and don’t have any issues.

Finally found the problem: I had the Roboto font installed locally, but only the medium weight.
When I disabled the local installation Safari suddenly started displaying it correctly again.
