Doesn't it look like that?
I mean, many genres are long gone, and this is one of the views (a decadent one) on what happens to what's left of those genres. There are also many other, more positive ways to look at it.

Sorry - I was just confused. I clicked your link and it brought up something in French (I don’t speak French).

Ah right - just saw that (I'm on a desktop now). I originally looked at that on my phone and didn't keep scrolling down.orthodox wrote: ↑26 Jan 2020Sorry, I should have mentioned that there are translations below on that page.EnochLight wrote: ↑26 Jan 2020Sorry - I was just confused. New "Country" is hardly country music. I'm not sure what the hell it is (some sub category of pop, I would think), but it surely isn't country as I have always known country. I saw a video a while ago about that damn electric hand clap that can be found in so many new country songs. I hope they at least bought the bundle from Robotic Bean. Anyway, not a fan of this new country. I wish you kids would get off my grass!
That was an interesting video, though. Thanks for posting.
You guys ever heard this one? The Gourds doing a Snoop Dog cover from way back.

The reason "new country" doesn't sound like older country is because of how the artists were brought up. None of them are growing up illiterate and poor in the Appalachian hollows any more. They are growing up in cities and suburbs, listening to rock, hip-hop, etc. on the radio. Garth Brooks has been around for three decades now and he has said one of his earliest influences was Kiss!!!
Was a very interesting video to watch though! I remember going to some bar in my city years ago and noticing that the country music that was playing sounded very hip-hop influenced (this was 2013). I'm not a big country person, but as you'll hear so many people say lol, I really do enjoy me some Johnny Cash!

I was hearing "dance remixes" of country songs on the radio back in the 1990s.
Yeah, I'm actually in the UK and have been into country rap for about a year and there is no doubt there are some incredibly talented artists making great music like this for example...
Tend the flame
I'm not saying they're lacking a talent. It's basically a hijacking of the term 'country'. Well, not hijacking, just a reuse.
