Huh, I see it the other way. For me, Barrett-era Floyd is run of the mill daffy English psychedelia, some good stuff but mostly pretty embarrassing

Post-Barrett there's a steady upward trajectory culminating in Dark Side of the Moon

From there, Wish You Were Here is disappointing, Animals is mostly terrible, and then with The Wall they're back to embarrassing
