This could be the one to steer me away from my 3 bcf2000+ bcr2000setup, but 3500eur is crazy... :/

While it may be crazy for you to upgrade since your current setup is working fine, it's actually not a bad deal for what you get.
It's $1000 for 8 Midus preamps alone.
Another $1000 to $1500 for 24 motorized faders (from Behringer and in groups of 8, more $$$ for others).

From there it's more difficult to price, but you also get a 64 track digital audio recorder, a USB interface with a good amount of I/O (8 In/Out in the base system), some touch sensitive knobs and a touch display, a "host" for headphone mixing systems, a nice suite of FX from classic models to modern versions, and to top it off a fairly decent 48 channel (stereo) mixer with tons of I/O options to tie it all together.

For me, as someone who just happens to be in the market for 24 motorized faders, a bigger USB interface, more mic pre amps, and a headphone mixing system, this MAY be a very sensible purchase based on price alone.

So I'm lobbying to be the guy who reviews this for my friends over at Recording Mag just so I can find out if it's actually going to work for me or not! ;)

Selig,

I agree, It is a powerhorse and quite beautiful!
And it would be a great value if i had nothing (no faders, no prés, no audio card, nothing!).

But considering it's functionality, and what it cost me to have, i think i'm still shy of 1300 eur. I have a presonus Central station as DA, focusrite prés (the class A british made not the current chinese stuff), a RME raydat (32 channels PCIE) and the pack of berries. And i bought these in different evolutions to my studio, so not everybody that is on the "hobby-ish or something more" status in music can leave 3,5 grand at a time.

Just for kicks,1100 for the Raydat and the Presouns, got lucky with the pres (300 for the platinum octapre) and about 800 for the BCF/R's (i'm putting aside the fact that one of the bcr2000 had some problems and i had to get another one... but things can happen also to the new one!).

It is as you say. The berries are now working great for me, so no need to get this new one. But maybe one of these days they all crap out and i have to think about it. And, important to consider, the faders of the BCF's are REALLY NOISY! Not a real problem for my mixing style, as i don't do A LOT of fader automation - i like to find a good level and the faders stay static most of the times.

P.S.: If you get it, please update us on reason compatibility and the fader noise! I think the Xtouch and Touch X32 were already less hearable, but this looks so great that maybe, just maybe the faders are even better!

:puf_bigsmile: I know. But is this a bad deal compared to Behringer's?

The StudioLive 64S is a 64-channel mixer that brings the power of a large format console to small format digital mixing. Powered by the new quad-core PreSonus FLEX DSP Engine, the StudioLive 64S digital mixer is equipped with 76 mixing channels, 43 mix buses, and 526 simultaneous processors—including 8 stereo reverberation systems, and Fat Channel plug-in models on every input channel and mix bus. With 128 (64X64) channels of USB recording, 128 channels of AVB I/O, flexible routing options, and the studio-grade audio quality that made StudioLive mixers famous, the StudioLive 64S delivers a truly exceptional mixing experience that's in a class of its own.

PreSonus Capture® recording software is an intuitive multitrack recording application with a fully integrated Virtual Soundcheck mode that runs directly on your StudioLive 64S digital mixer or on your Mac® or Windows® computer. Record any combination of channels, FlexMixes, and the main stereo mix to USB, to an SD Card, or both for the ultimate redundant live recording rig. StudioLive mix scenes can be stored with your recordings to speed up Virtual Soundchecks. Best of all, Capture sessions open natively in Studio One® with the entire StudioLive mix scene re-created in the Studio One console, complete with fader levels, Fat Channel settings, mutes, solos, and more to launch your live mix right where you left it. No other multitrack software makes recording as fast, simple, and hassle-free so you can focus on mixing the show.

Me neither.
But Presonus' solution (mixer and DAW integration) is pretty good if you are into building a brand new production studio.
Just add a tiny H9000 to your system and you should be OK for years.

Just by counting the I/Os. The Presonus is a much better deal. No need to budget (at first) for an expensive patchbay, if the routing matrix is that flexible. No need to budget for a UAD-2 Satellite with the extra purchase of expensive plugins. The board comes loaded already.
Behringer or Presonus, not that bad when you start adding up.
I do like the look of the Presonus better.

That's for the 64 channel version. I'm still not clear on exactly what each of the different versions of this mixer offer (there are 7), I just started checking them out after reading this thread.
The 32 channel is $3300:

Now Presonus... Their Studiolive board is the only sound board I've had fail on me. All preamps stopped working during a keynote speaker and panel discussion. We had to switch the board out. Local repair shop said it happens all the time. We stopped using their boards.

D'oh! Well that's awkward. How long was the presentation delayed during the switch out?

Hmm.
I bought a Presonus Studio 68 in 2017. I installed it and the sound was fine. Reason was happy.
Then I changed the buffer size. That was it. Reason could not detect the card anymore. I spent the next 4 hours trouble shooting it. I got Reaper, Audacity, Windows sound. Earlier History point. No luck.
I sent it back the next day and got an RME.

About five minutes, which felt like an eternity. Seems like tons of people have had the problem with various Studiolive boards... I'm assuming Presonus has addressed this with newer boards. But an example of how our own personal experience can shape preferences in what we buy and use, so I can understand some people's hesitation with Behringer if they had a problem with old equipment even years ago. Not sure if Presonus builds everything themselves, but once Music Group bought Midas, Behringer equipment benefited and it's been really great. My only problem with Behringer years ago was noisiness, but never anything failing.

The old word on the street with Presonus was that if you didn't have a problem in the first few months, you were probably OK (build quality issues), but before that period "look out". I've had a Central Station for around 15 years now that's performed flawlessly.
Don't know what the current word on the street is for Presonus is (will check around), I would say both Persons and Behringer are in around the same league. I HAVE heard many stories about failed Behringer X32 mixers over the years (from folks I fully trust), so with both companies "you get what you pay for".

A year later, has anyone used this thing in their studio? The concept of a console mixer is a bit foreign to me since i live in the reason rack. However, if this thing can be used as an audio interface with Reason, that would be game changing for some people who prefer to mix out of the box and want to use reason as a multitrack recorder only.
