Well, I have to say - this actually looks sort of bad ass:

https://www.musictech.net/news/behringe ... unleashed/

Keeping to its promise, Behringer dropped the trailer video for the mysterious Behringer WING this evening. After a month of teaser trailers hinting at what the enigmatic product is, the company uploaded a launching video on the Music Tribe community page.

WING is a “personal mixing console”, as described by Behringer, and features a central touch-screen display for channel editing. It also looks to be customisable with your own cushion panels, with the trailer exhibiting patterns including camo, marble and even a Nyan Cat design (presumably deadmau5 was a potential customer in mind for that one).

Below is the specs as listed in the trailer from Behringer, along with some screenshots of WING.

Flight Facilities
  • 8 award-winning Midas PRO mic preamps
  • 8 Midas PRO outputs
  • 24 motorised 100m faders in 3 separate, fully configurable sections
  • “Plug and play remote I/O connectivity for up to 144 input and output signals over 3 AES50 ports featuring Klark Tekniks SuperMAC technology for ultra-low jitter and latency
  • Large main display with capacitive touch screen and adjustable display swivel wheel
  • Unique touch-sensitive channel editing section with 11 rotary controls and dedicated colour TFT for staying on top of all channel properties
  • Optional module for 64 x 64 channels of audio over Ethernet – supporting WAVES SoundGrid technology or Dante/AES67 Technology
  • 48×48 channel USB 2.0 audio interface onboard with DAW remote control emulating HUI and Mackie Control
  • Dual SD card live recorder/player with up to 64 tracks and markers for identifying song positions

Until Behringer releases it on YouTube, there's just a crappy upload from Musictribe:

Been keeping an eye on this since the first teaser. Thinking it may make a great studio interface/hardware controller for Reason, with 8 mic preamps to boot. Was originally looking at the X32, but this is coming out just in time to be a better option from what I can tell. Looking forward to learning more in the coming weeks…

Looks interesting, but for me the big question is, if it is possible to control the reson mixer well? Hope someone will test that scenario.

In related news, the X32 had an update released this week (v4) that adds some new features like additional routing options, remote configuration for personal monitoring systems, and a new user interface, which includes channel icons and such that you see on the Wing.

It supports Mackie HUI mode, so as well as any that supports HUI.
This would be enough for my use.

Seems like a good price to me.

Mixers I use at venues range from $20k to $80k and sometimes more. And other times, smaller venues are using the X32, which is still an incredible deal for the money, good quality preamps, and capable with expandable slot, digital stage boxes etc.

I hear you. I don't doubt it's a good price for the tech on offer - that's pretty much the very basis of everything Behringer. Still, it's several thousand dollars more than I can spend on it.

LMAO!!! "Super Awesome Talent Agency" FTW! Classic South Park. She (Wing) really played herself in that episode, too.

A lot of people have had quality issues with Behringer, including me. I had a mixer that went belly up pretty quickly.

What mixer? Recently?

I've been using the X32 and Behringer audio interfaces in several theatres with no issues and haven't heard of anybody having any major issues.

I do still have an old Behringer Eurorack mixer which never had a problem. I don't doubt people had issues with older stuff, but haven't heard about anything bad for years.

Can you do a full mix playback in WING with or without an external time code?

To his defense, my Behringer mixer was pretty crap quality as well - but this was a mixer I picked up in the early 2000's. The stuff that Behringer has been making the past 5-10 years seems pretty damn solid.

Their old consumer stuff was noisey AF with cheap build quality. I had one of those cheap small mixers in the early 2000's, too. But that's nearly two decades ago and since then, Music Tribe has evolved into one of the biggest audio hardware manufacturing companies in the world.
:reason: Most recent track: resentment (synthwave) || Others: on my YouTube channel •ᴗ•

I was just saying. 3500 smackolas is a ton of money. Hope those who buy it have luck with it.
