Oh my bad! But yeah, totally worth a re-post.

Not to be too negative but 1,4 Gb of old drum samples actually means that those samples are badly truncated. They might be useful for someone anyway but something like a TR-505 had like 16 kb of memory for all its sounds.

Meh, maybe but free is free, I suppose. Also, why would its size indicate that the samples are badly truncated?
I just checked, and the entire contents of the TR-505 folder are 5.68 MB, but that includes 2.2 MB loops that aren't part of the kit. Also, the original 16 KB memory of the TR-505 were not 32-bit samples at 48 Khz.

(Which in turn means resampling them that way is wasting quite some space)
Disk space might not matter either but a badly truncated drum sample per se - whilst not implying these are - will not work well (or at all) in the redrum for instance as it might have silence before the attack of the sound.
I come from the old school of sampling so I see it this way: If I'd get samples like that for my music I know I'd spend a crazy amount of time truncating each waveform... and deleting every non rex'ed drumloop But that's me. Quality before quantity any day.

But it's not just about the samples, it's about the output of the machine. If you want to faithfully capture and reproduce all the artifacts, recording the analog out requires high quality. Probably not 24but and 96kHz, but still.. no one cares about the underlying samples, but what those drum machines made out of it.
Most recent track: resentment (synthwave) || Others: on my YouTube channel •ᴗ•
I use my ears - 16 bit / 44.1 khz is always enough for me. This was interesting in a nerdy way; http://www.polynominal.com/m/roland-tr-505.htm - it actually had 128 kb of RAM which was quite impressive back in those days (twice that of the C-64)
Even more nerdy: I sometimes challenge myself to try to duplicate a sound exactly with looping points, bitrate and everything. Loading a full rack of instruments made that way - especially from an SSD - is lovely
Even more nerdy than that: An ongoing project here is trying to fill a 3.5" disk for my old Akai S-1000 KB using samples and patches made like that, to create an ultimate Akai floppy. It's currently got about 25 presets and using about 30% of the disk space, loads quickly and makes the sampler fun to use in a synthy type of way. Samples from the Apollo landing included. I added a S-2000 to use it as a voice / multitimbral expander and was quite surprised that some sounds come out in a different way on the 2000. Had those two hooked up to an Atari 1040 this summer, variation is fun.
PS. I thought I'd be able to recreate these patches that I made on the KB when it didn't have a working disk drive. (The Akais has a few default waves like sine, saw, square and pulse). Demo here;
Turned out to be nearly impossible. I have to go back to the video to try recreating them, phew. Goes to show that aside from the samples alone, the exact envelope, LFO and filter settings is where the true sound happens.
I turned it off after that session thinking that'd be a walk in the park - should have left it running

No, it's not "incorrect". And it's mentioned in the actual post it's the Reverb collection. Hardly misleading.
Had you actually read the admittedly short thread, you would have seen that this has already been pointed out. Thanks for the link, though!
I don't see how the quality of the sample content is bad. The samples are all 32-bit 48 Khz and are pretty bog standard samples. Anyway, they're free, and perhaps if someone likes collecting classic drum machine samples, they may be useful. YMMV, of course.

Just watched that video. You got that S-1000 from E-Type? I remember the video for "Set the World on Fire" back in the early 90's. I was always enraged at the acoustic drummer and guitar player in the video knowing that track was produced 100% on synths, samplers, and drum machines. It was a time when the music industry still struggled with the image of electronic musicians. I know we're veering off topic, but had to mention that.
Huh?

Might be e-types old Akai yes, I was told so.

Ah. OK.
YMMV = "Your mileage may vary". It was meant as a disclaimer that results/satisfaction level might be different for every person.
