I am confident that most Reason users are honest, upstanding individuals who shy away from pirated software and fully appreciate that developers should be reimbursed for their hard work.

However, by some estimates, pirated software comprises more than one-third of all active software in use around the world.

What's your situation?

Sorry, but...

Mixing several topics. No option to chose the opposite of a statement or measuring agreement on a scale. Limited number of choices.

This "survey" isn't going to give anyone any meaningful data.

I'd be interested in a discussion if it hadn't been had a billion times in the past decades..

:/

Okay, I'll delete it.
Seems it can't be deleted.

If the mods could delete this for me, that would be great. On reflection I agree that the way I have constructed the poll, it would not deliver any meaningful data.

It'd be cool if there were other real survey methods offered by phpBB, more than just single or multiple choice :)

I used a crack for a while for a bought game, which CD check was broken on a later Windows. But today its too dangerous to get the crack from some website and now i purchased the same(!) software again(!) with permanent required(!) online authorization. This is so sad...But hey, i now hate the company

I still use a cracked version of Civilization 4, even though I own the proper version. The DVD DRM on the legal version drives me nuts. You get 5 to 10 seconds of nasty clunking noises from the DVD drive and it fails about 25% of the time. Fortunately the days of DRM really punishing legitimate buyers are mostly behind us.

That's an opinion piece. It's of no value.

I'm currently using the Butt-Crack version of Reason 6.9.

Still can't figure out why VST 4 isn't working --- Props need to look into this

Interesting to set this vote into relation of the age-distribution voting here on the forum :-)

I know you’re not suggesting otherwise, but there are plenty of cheap options to get started in making music. Cakewalk by Bandlab and Tracktion 7 are free, Reaper is $60, and Waveform (Tracktion 10) is often available for $70 or so, I think. I’m sure there are other good options.

ten years or so ago, you might’ve struggled to find an affordable, fully-featured DAW, but that’s no excuse anymore. now the only argument for stealing is you can’t/don’t want to afford a particular feature set.

If SOME developers charged less for their software, maybe I'd pay for it... which doesn't mean I'm using pirated copies of their software but purchasing from other dev teams
