If only Lightroom was fast enough to immediately translate the commands :')

It's good and all but the library/catalog is probably the most important part of any professional workflow. So unless either C1 or Affinity come up with something comparable, it'll be LR6.14 til the end of time :/

Got an idea. Let's turn this into an Adobe hate thread.

Let's see how this product will do with Ableton Live users. Maybe in the future it could be a good solution for most DAWs?

I never got the hang of catalogues and libraries. Do a shoot, stick it in its own sensibly-named folder, done. Just what I'm used to, that's all - I never have need to search photos by tag or attribute, and half the time they're off on some other HDD anyway.
In Capture One terms, this folder-based way of working is called a "session". When I first got it, it tried to make me work in catalogue mode by default and I was SO frustrated until I understood I was looking for sessions.

In LR it's all accessible from the same catalog, no need to reload anything. You can easily work on different projects in parallel and that's crucial if you have to handle several clients at once.
I never delete stuff because you'll never know if a client all of the sudden needs a variation of one of the pictures. That can happen at any point in time, even if the shooting happened months back.
So I do the culling as follows:
1 star = I like the picture and I'll show it to the client
Now I can add stars and create my own hierarchy:
2 stars = client liked it too
3 stars = for example, has been requested by a client of a client in high resolution for printing and is sharpened accordingly
4 stars = different edits of virtual copies for another purpose
5 stars = will go into my portfolio

etc etc.... you can build your own system very easily and filter even faster for the things you're looking for. After the culling process you can get back to your catalog and pick up where you left it, simply by filtering by 1 star.
And I'm not talking about 20 pictures per session or so (of course they are part of the same catalog, but I don't bother much with rating in these cases), this is a workflow for multiples of hundreds of photos per session. And it's consistent across all my library. Correct me if I'm wrong because I'm a bit out of the loop and I'd love to switch due to Lightroom's terrible performance, but I don't think you can do that in C1... or any editing software for that matter.

I only take photos for my own fun most of the time, so it's usually 50-200ish from any particular event/card.

I don't know how the catalogue/library works as I don't use it, but you *can* rate both by stars and by colour tags within a "session", and I do a bit of that sometimes once I've done the first quick harvest into the "selects" folder by pressing Ctrl+J as I pass the ones with potential.

I always assumed the catalogue is for if you need to use and search tags like "Festoon+night+cake+BW" etc.
