Hey guys I hope you are all doing great.

As I've already mentioned in my first post I am a full time FL Studio user so any help, tips or tricks are very much appreciated.

FL Studio has a Soft Clipper Plugin which I find very useful in my master channel. I can see the excellent Maximizer has a soft clip button and a knob. Is this the best and only Soft Clipper that Reason offers ? Any good Soft Clipper Rack Extensions?

Thank you again for any feedback you are a great community

Thank you for the link  I find it interesting that the G Clip VST in free but the RE is 9 euros :) I'll take a wild guess and suppose it has to do with costs of RE code development. Anyhow, thank you very much for this I will try the VST right away!

Same with Audio Damage’s Rough Rider compressor and also Blamsoft’s VK-1. Free VSTs paid REs.

Oh well thank you for the info I will make sure to check and see whether there is a VST format prior to trying/buying REs

Nah!!! I think that’s the only three with free VST counterparts man.

My first pick would be pulveriser, I like this one a lot. With the filter bypassed and squash (compressor) down, it's basically a soft distortion with the dirt & tone control
Then you have the free softube rack extension (I believe it's also available as VST)

It's because the VSTs are donationware, funded by donations. There is no option for donation in the Reason shop, so the best option for the developer was to go with the lowest price tag.

This is the best free clipper I have ever tried *and I have tried a lot.

https://www.vennaudio.com/free-clip/

It's easily as good as most paid clippers. They also make a paid version with more functions.

The MClass maximizer's clipper is surprisingly good (try it at around 50% softness for a pretty natural and invisible curve) - in fact it's pretty much as good as any other standard soft clipper *needs an oversampling update tho. I would disagree about the Maximizer being good in any other respect though.

You want to have a look at:
https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/rack ... ve-shaper/
https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/rack ... aveshaper/

And while its not fully the same, THe Echo has a build-in limiter, which is worth trying if you are just looking for limiting and not waveshaping.

For a VST and waveshaping i can recommend Trash2. Its GUI is tiny and iZotope should be slapped in the face for the workflow and the tiny GUI, its still worth to pick up, if you can get it cheap (never pay the original price!).

9 Euro (or 8 GBP) does seem to be the lowest price we see in the shop, apart from free stuff, so I assume that is the minimum price that makes the pricing structure work. Maybe one of the developers can confirm?

Yes, as I mentioned above, the VSTs are donationware and there is no donation option in the Reason shop. So the dev, Graham, went with $9. The first release didn't have a waveform display, and Graham had updated it with the waveform display and knobs on the folded view

No best option is free with the link in shop description for donation ..... having a price in shop is not as other donation ware as mostly you choose to donate or not by doing the price in the shop you are forced to pay .... so your theory is full of holes to be honest . As i said best option is link not a price tag simple as that .

Again. Synthmaster Player was in the Propellerhead Shop for €4 a while ago so it would appear that the only options aren’t €9 or free.

Do you know if the RS store rules let you have your RE for free, but with external links to a paypal or patreon donation? I don't mean an external link to your dev's webpage with your paypal on it

I don't think that would be allowed because it would effectively be bypassing the Prop's "commission" on the sales. They earn money from every RE sold.

Mr F. I don't recall ever seeing anything priced anywhere between 0 and 8 GBP but you are a wise man and not mad so I'm inclined to believe you. I still think it is odd that all the lowest "standard" prices are the same. If you were introducing a new low priced RE surely you would be tempted to go for 7 GBP to undercut the competition unless the Prop's rules did not allow it.

Here’s when it happened.
viewtopic.php?f=48&t=7508795&hilit=Synt ... +player+€4

It’s a VST though. Maybe the “rules” are different for REs. Dunno.

Just remembered...when Ochen K started with €9 REs they were always in intro at €8.

Loque...it was the whole month October 2018. When I got to thinking though all the €9 Ochen K REs back in the day were always on intro pricing at €8
