This is something I'd like to have cleared up from an official source.

Will the Suite work as a way to get (some of) the official RE:s and players released since the last upgrade?
It's like you are buying one of the rigs however they have called it a suite.
Will Suite content be upgraded "mid version" at all, say, if a new Reason Studios RE is released?
No
Does it work like a subscription - meaning, if I downgrade from Suite to normal when Reason 12 comes out, will I lose the extra content I paid for?
No

But we want to make a fair comparison from DAW to DAW, buying a copy of S1 is basically the pricing to getting the full version of Studio one.

Its FREE --> Artist (99) --> Pro (399)

If you purchase artist, you owe the last 300 to the professional version unless you get it during discount days.

So it is definitely a fair question if this is how the company is marketing the DAW or simply a bundle upgrade. In other words, is this a bigger version of A-List/UJAM (where you buy A-List but upgrading to the fuller version not included in the original purchase price) , The Rig line, or literally a 3rd tier upgrade. I'm wondering to if I ever decide to UPGRADE to Suite later. With the "as-is" statement, this sounds more like a one time offer for this specific version rather than introducing an "almost all in tier" like Studio One Pro.

Think of it as the Reason Studios Rig for $249, and as a special bonus, it includes a free upgrade to Reason 11.

wow, that’s pretty disappointing. so if you’re on the fence about going with the Suite, you’re better off not upgrading to 11 at all until you’ve made a firm decision.

I wonder how many have upgraded to 10 and were going to upgrade to the Suite as they thought the cost would be nearier the difference...

I can kind of understand it for those who bought 10 just before they announced 11. they paid for the v10 feature set, but they’re getting 11 Standard automatically. if they wanted to upgrade from 10 (which they thought they bought) to 11 Suite, it would’ve cost them $250 anyway.

it’s kind of a dumb way for them to price it for people who will have upgraded to 11 knowingly, though. for those who decide the Suite isn’t for them, and change their mind later (or just don’t have the additional $, but need the v11 features sooner), it amounts to Props double-dipping.

I'd be surprised if that is the case. There is bound to be a lower price for going from R11 to R11 Suite. Maybe it will not be in place on launch day but RS are bound to introduce that as an option so they get to sell more stuffz.

I suppose the Rack Extensions could have a badge/Label on their shop page with the word ‘Suite Deal’ or something like that, so if you did want it, you would know that you could upgrade to the suite and it would be included or indeed just buy it on its own,

I'll concur to that 100 percent! I'll be purchasing the Suite but, I'd hate for middle aged Dad ( or whom ever ) to purchase Complex / Parsec 2 etc at full price tonight on an excited whim, and then be like "awww sheeeit.

They aren't bound to do anything. I understand this like this:
- you're not happy with new stuff in plain 11? upgrade to 11 Suite instead with 16 REs for additional $/EUR120
- you're happy with 11, but later want to get those 16 REs ("worth" over 1k)? get them at $/EUR249, still a great deal

I don't really know what's so hard to comprehend here...

it’s marketed as a tier version; that’s what’s so hard to comprehend. most DAWs with different tier structures discount the cost to upgrade to a higher tier.

it would be less confusing if it was marketed as another device Rig, not tied to a particular release version.

I just did the Reason 10 update (from 9) to be ready for the Reason 11 day one release,. So I would have to pay 129 plus 249 for the suite.

So current reason 10 users on release day, they only pay $249 for the regular 10 to 11 suite version correct? Or do they still have to do both versions?

So I could have waited and just went from 9 to suite 11 ?

I have two full licenses on my account (2.5 license) , I’m definitely going to see if method 2 is true.

I'll tell you in 8 days.

In the meantime it doesn't matter whether you stress about it or not. Nothing is a changin'.

That’s what the French aristocracy told the peasants in 1789.

Yes. If you wanted 11 Suite, it would be cheaper to go straight 9 -> 11 Suite ($249). Instead you chose to upgrade 9 to 10 ($129), you'll get 11 for free, but you'll "have" to pay $249 for Suite.

There's nothing to "see if it's true" - Props clearly said 11 -> 11 Suite is $249. See on previous page.

I was surprised their was no tiered upgrade pricing too. Even the name 'suite' implied to me that it was tiered : as is in line with abletons 'suite' upgrade where you pay slightly more than the difference to upgrade. Anyway, I'm not ruling out some sort of future special deal for future r11 - suite upgraders as RS are free to make and break their own rules and it really is gonna come down to wether this bundle tie in of theirs sells well this year.

As already mentioned it would have been cheaper to go from 9 to 11 for the suite.

However as you have 2 full licenses if you decide you want the suite now, your lower license should be upgraded to 11 so you will end up with 2 * 11 licences.

I upgraded to 10 on 10/25/17 for $129 and have to pay $249 for suite. I've upgraded every version from 1 except 2 an 5. (I know, whoopee doo for me)

I‘m asking me what happens with future updates of Reason, when I upgrade now to Reason 11 Suite.

Will I be locked in a Suite update path and have to pay for every update now 249 EUR?
Or is it still possible to Upgrade to a future standard version of Reason for 129 EUR?

It would be good if the ReasonStudios Team could answere this question. I think it would be good for every one to know this befor making a decission.

What makes you think Suite -> Suite upgrade would be $249? Standard to Suite is $249 so surely Suite to Suite will be less.
