Had a Chinese restaurateur friend who told me that the majority of people are actually eating Cantonese. He took me to a part of his restaurant in the back behind a heavy velvet curtain where a load of people were eating real Chinese cuisine. Stuff I’d never seen or tasted before. Pretty weird but good.

Ho Fun. Don't care what's on em. Cow is good.
If I'm in Thailand, Guaitiaw. Same same.
Taiwan makes a killer spicy cow soup with rice noodles.
Hong Kong, pan fried noodles. Don't care what's on em, it's all good.
And dim sum. Too many to list.
Or if you hit Xinjiang etc, hand made noodles and boiled lamb. (I'm actually making something like that tonight)

Sorry, I'm hungry....

It's true and often bad versions of it. But go to Hong Kong and eat. Wow...
Cool sounding language too. Sounds softer than Mandarin.

I think I can eat siopao all day every day. I have been to the Phillippines a few times, maybe it's not Chinese but just order anything and your stomach will thank you :D

I'll tell you what I really miss...Polynesian Restaurants.
The pupu platter. The virgin Zombies.
Ah man. That was one of my favourite treats as a kid.

I guess they must all be gone now

You know what I don't care much for, the overly Americanized "sweet/sour pork"

Not tried that. Will have to look out for that. You get that from a Chinese take away then?

Was thinking of some of the stuff you metioned and special fried rice / chow mein when I was reading some of the previous posts and thinking, non of this stuff is probably what you get in China lol!
