timbaland has always been my most emulated producer, and masterclass.com is offering a lecture series by him.
it’s not worth the 90 bucks to me, but since i love tim’s production style so much, i still wanna sign up.
maybe if anyone else is interested we could split the cost?

Even at 45 bucks I couldn’t stomach it. I think I will wait for a sale. Plus the Timbaland sound is no longer in fashion.

Just checked Wikipedia and he has production credits for working with eighteen different artists in 2018. I'm not sure exactly what that entails but he's definitely still in the mix of things. The masterclass preview pretty much summed everything up for me though.

if only 2 others were interested it’d be 22.50...?
every half-decade has a particular producer’s sound dominating the airwaves... music’s always gonna changes, unless you’re david bowie your sound won’t be in fashion for very long.

Dominating the airwaves alright.

okay, I’ll be that guy...does Masterclass allow you to split the course between multiple people? I’m guessing that’s not acceptable. if you want to take the course, save your money and take it the way it’s meant to be taken.

I think I saw a promo for buying an all access pass to everything. That would be more bang for your buck than expecting real value from something more like infotainment. Buy it for something you're not already doing like cooking with Gordon Ramsey. No offense to your cooking skills but I know some of us are eating frozen dinners.

they do, so long as you are not watching at the same time. you know, not explicity allow, but permit a-la hulu streaming rules.

i have a BA in music for media production, so i am not expecting to learn anything from this website that will teach me anything in the traditional sense, i am not looking at this website as a way to further my education, but rather it's simply interesting and worthwhile to hear how someone you respect approaches music... some of the most insightful things i have come across in music have been the real world experiences i have had. like always stocking hennessy along with rum, making a demo acapella (like timbo seems to do) to get the idea out of your mind fresh, and to leave a separate recorder on 24/7 in addition to your daw in case you miss hitting record on an ad-lib or outtake.
learning about compressors and room modes and phase is nowhere near as important as that.

I've only watched clips so you're ahead of the curve. Maybe we can go havlsies on James Suckling teaches Wine Appreciation. I could use a little more sophistication than buying six packs of beer from the corner convenience store.

Sorry Chef Ramsay for spelling your name incorrectly.

you live in cali, visit a local vineyard, they literally get off on teaching you how to appreciate wine, plus per abu you get a good deal and better taste than beer. but seriously, that is kind of funny indeed, learning wine appreciation online? that's really pushing the boundary of what i'd consider a farce.
at this point, it seems clear no one is too into timbaland either on forums or irl, i think i'll just buy the damn course and justify it as self-care

edit: i keep trying to edit this to not make it sound like i am being snotty, but i can't. just believe me that i mean the wine comment in a "i know, right!?" sort of way.

It's all good. Self-care is a good reason or just for the sake of entertainment. I just spent hundreds of dollars on a music festival this past weekend and I didn't learn anything. Timbaland seems like fun. Say It Right has to be one of my all time favorite pop songs.

They do explicitly disallow it in their terms:

So, I'm locking this thread, as a violation of the terms here against sharing copyrighted content.
