Lots of modular gadgets this year...the Korg Volca Modular, the Stylophone Gen R-8, and this...

Yet it's still more affordable than building most of the other modular systems out there. And they start out cheaper than the Monologue you bought (well, at least the sequencer alone does)
I think TE has knocked it out of the park with this - assuming they sound incredible (which I've no reason to doubt that judging from their current product lines). This might be what it takes to finally get me into actual hardware modular, especially if I can sync my current Pocket Operators with it.
Assorted musings:
all modules are based on standard modular specifications with ±12 volt and solid 3.5 mm jacks for patching (wohoo! no mini wiring!) which makes it fully compatible with other pro gear. finally, all boards fits in a eurorack
Win 10 | Ableton Live 11 Suite | Reason 12 | i7 3770k @ 3.5 Ghz | 16 GB RAM | RME Babyface Pro | Akai MPC Live 2 & Akai Force | Roland System 8, MX1, TB3 | Dreadbox Typhon | Korg Minilogue XD
Yeah cheaper than I was expecting from them. You have to keep in mind this is the same company that sells the OP-1 at a premium price of $999 (bumped up from $899). And sells the little silicone cases for their Pocket Operators for $30 each (and the plain one for $40, because why not? lol). So all that said, these prices actually look good and pretty comparative to Korg and others I would think. I'm also saying that without knowing specs or hearing them in action, but they look cool!EnochLight wrote: ↑18 Jan 2019Yet it's still more affordable than building most of the other modular systems out there. Don't get me wrong. Im a TE, supporter. PO 33 here, and a few others.
But $500 + $150 + $340..... at $990, that's...
a Minibrute 2s for $550 (BH Photo), plus a Rack Brute 3U ($299), plus a $140 module of choice (Make Noise Function)
The monologue is a one piece monster for $300. Batteries can stay IN [READ the TE fine print about that ]

Pro tip: using red fonts makes it almost impossible to read your posts on the Reasontalk dark theme.O1B wrote: ↑18 Jan 2019Don't get me wrong. Im a TE, supporter. PO 33 here, and a few others.

I have been hoping for something battery operated in that Arturia Brute lineup.O1B wrote: ↑18 Jan 2019Don't get me wrong. Im a TE, supporter. PO 33 here, and a few others.

Great thing about all these offerings from the manufacturers I mentioned releasing new modular gadgets, is they can be run with batteries. That is most fun for me; being able to be mobile and jam with it anywhere. That adds a lot of value IMO.
When I start thinking about having to be tethered to power and very likely to my little studio setup, then I'm wanting more in the features than what those non-battery powered synths currently offer.
Batteries. Absolutely Agree.
But
- a Volca is $150 and plastic and lasts and batteries can stay in while you change.
- an electribe 2.0 is Zinc coated and super strong and batteries can also stay in.
- Monologue and Microkorg - Batteries and durability.
I'd need some serious protocols to keep these little things functional.
But, maybe I exaggerate... We'll see.

Yeah, there's certainly a compromise to be made by staying in the "100% battery optional" realm. Still, it's exciting times we live in!
You tell me:

Worse. I suggest to simply use bold font to mark the important words.O1B wrote: ↑18 Jan 2019How's BLUEEnochLight wrote: ↑18 Jan 2019Pro tip: using red fonts makes it almost impossible to read your posts on the Reasontalk dark theme.
Wow! I gotta try that color scheme. Nice.

Teenage Engineering always innovating. I love their industrial design. It reminds me of Braun's classic design. Bold colors. Bold statement.

These look great. First the Korg Volca Modular & now this!! The 400 system looks like the go. It appears to have sold out already (from the first batch of pre-orders I guess). I think these will sell like hot cakes. They are also going to release modules individually & there's already a PDF on the webpage detailing Eurorack conversion. Very cool.
oplab module – the magic link.
Once mounted in the back of your OP-Z,
- you can use it to connect to any equipment using standard cv and gate, such as the pocket operator modular or any other modular system. it features three cv outs and one gate out, all programmable and playable from OP-Z.
Use the po sync out
- to unleash the power of your regular pocket operators and have them play in sync with the rest of your setup.
Connect standard midi devices
- using midi over 3.5 mm jack or the included midi over din adapter cable. oplab features both midi in and out ports as well as trig in and out for other synthesizers and sequencers.
$149

That's pretty bad ass. That said, it just makes me want to buy Complex-1 instead (since my trial ran out).

Give me a complex-1 in a portable Pi3* 12bitDAC device with touchscreen and 8-16 cv connections, or no touchscreen, I'd get that for 399 bucks, no brainer for me.EnochLight wrote: ↑06 Mar 2019That's pretty bad ass. That said, it just makes me want to buy Complex-1 instead (since my trial ran out).
*or Atom Panda
