I'm gutted, don't know much of the details yet, but apparently he was found dead at his home this morning. Only 49! Not much older than me, and very much part of my "musical generation" if you will. Very very saddened by this.

Sleep well mate.

Apparently it was suicide which he hinted at doing some years ago. I'm saddened by this as well.

This is very sad.
I was obsessed with Prodigy during my early teens and they've had a huge impact on the way I make my own music.
I still remember listening to Breathe every day before going to school for like 2 months.

RIP Keith

Mental health is a very real issue. So sad. Will be listening to Experience, Jilted, Fat and everything else today.
In the 90s, my midi music was on the Baulder's Gate site. That was my life peak.

What a shame. I don't know what issues he was struggling with, but I hope he has found peace.

I *loved* the earlier albums of the Prodigy, but wasn't too big on the later ones where they seemed to cultivate this nihilistic techno hooligan image. I often wondered how they were going to live up to that when they got older.

Sad Times.
I don't think I've gone a month without hearing something by The Prodigy since the 90's.
You probably don't hear it reflected in much of my music but they've always be a source of inspiration to me, both in production and in spirit.
I can't imagine how the music scene would have turned out without their influence. Probably shit.

When you think of all the people you like. You never know the inner demons they have to fight. Until it is too late.

Sadness.

I'm fucking gutted.
Prodigy were my gateway drug away from guitar rock. So many house parties in our 20s were powered by the Prodigy. At one, probably 2010, we had a projector projecting a big "Welcome To The Scene Of The Crash" graphic on the wall, and we played Invaders Must Die in its entirety through a PA we'd borrowed, strobes, UV face-paint everywhere. It was the peak of those house parties and has become folklore. I think we all feel somehow that whole era died today. Fuck.

Copied from another forum... Who would have thought that James Blunt of all people would deliver the most touching ode to the Firestarter.

Really saddened and shocked. Hard to believe someone with such a huge and exciting life can take it from themselves. I'd like to understand it better.
I had my hair like him and had various posters of him on my walls for years, he's always inspired me in different ways. I still remember the feeling I had when we first started hearing Breathe in high school, it was so bad ass, it made me feel a certain way I can still remember now. I guess it was an underlying feeling of independence, of discovering good things on my own, and knowing more good things were going to come. It really was impactful. Been a massive fan ever since. I always made a point of including a Prodigy track in my vinyl sets, especially the more serious ones. The influence they had is massive for me. I hope Prodigy can carry on.
Sad day.

Sad day.
'Too' much excitement, then the band crumbling followed by a fight with one of the band mates and years of drug and alcohol abuse, which had led to depression...all towards the late nineties and early 2000s.
In 2007 he cleaned up and Prodigy made a comeback, and he got married and retreated to the country side,
and opened a pub until 2017. Apparently depression had resurfaced.

Yeah very sad news.

The Prodigy "Charly" was one of the first dance tracks I heard way back in (I think) 1990. Went to school the next day and told a friend I heard a wicked track on the radio yesterday with the cat in it from the Charly don't go off with strangers advert on tele (if you live in the UK and are 40 or older you'll remember the ad) and straight away he said he'd also heard it and loved it. Brilliant.

Then the other tunes followed, Everybody In The Place, Wind It Up etc and they were also fantastic. A lot of ravers though (in about 96) were unsure at first about their new direction when Out Of Space, Firestarter, Breathe etc came out but that was soon quoshed. Infectious tunes and Keith certainly had a look in that Firestarter video.

I never had the pleasure of seeing them live but I've heard from people who have that they are one of the best live acts going. Sad I will never get the privilege but that's the way the cookie crumbles I suppose.

It will hit the dance / electronic world hard this one but Liam Howlett produces the tunes so they can / may continue but won't be the same without him live.

RIP Keith Flint.
