The Behringer D needs it's own Thread. It isn't going anywhere...

Oscillators: 3 x VCO, Noise Generator
LFO: Triangle, Square wave
Filter: 1 x VCF 24dB, low-pass/high-pass

For what it's worth, I haven't had substantial issues with tuning (or anything else on mine). There's a lot to love about this synth, and it sounds great, but the tiny stiff knobs (yes, I know how that sounds) and lack of MIDI CC aren't awesome. Still a fantastic synth at a great price, though.

that video was tough to set thru, but I listened to some of his tracks and thought they sounded excellent...better than the moog knock offs that are RE's/VST. I might have to pick one up :)

they have those 20% off coupons too thru MF/GC

Is the Behringer Model D multitimbral? I have such a hard time dropping $329 USD on what is essentially just one patch at a time. Modern DAW's and plugins have spoiled me. :(

"There are three voice modes: Single notes, Chords and Unison." - I hope this helps. If you're into micro-tuning, nothing beats three OSC, imo. w/ the Behringer D: Direct tweaking... Killer OSCs... $330

I hear you, though on having/using/saving/accessing Presets. I find my myself not wanting to move knobs.
There is no cure, but the antidote - for me -... Behringer D 'Screen Shots', and a 2nd Behringer D.

For a $330 Analog 'Sound Box'.... not bad...

I like the way the Behringer D sounds, but I would want to do live stuff with it, and for that I feel the need for preset storage.

The Roland SE-02 looks like an interesting alternative, and has automatic oscillator tuning, so no dealing with periodic maintenance.

Holy crap - how did I miss this? The Roland SE-02 blows the Behringer D out of the water as far as features go (presets, step sequencer, auto-tuning oscillators). If it sounds even remotely close - it seems like a no-brainer for just $70 USD more than the D. Buried in a mix, I bet it would be just fine.

Let me know if you change your mind when you 'play' the Boutique.

Micro-Tuning three Osc - with precision ..... the Behringer D is much more capable - form factor alone.
Absolutely and without a doubt, the Behringer Model D.
Why? The analog pots don't step. The modular-style jacks. The rocker switches. The larger knobs with more air. The slightly wider panel. Highpass. The liberating lack of patch storage. The minimoog-like panel. Clone vs a digitally enhanced reimagining. The cheaper price.
Out of all sound clips i listened to and videos i watched, i am more impressed by Behringer D sound and by features on Roland SE-02 (except its size).
The SE-02 is just a poor design with all the teeny tiny knobs, some of the demo videos floating around really showcase the small knob issue, it is also overpriced in my opinion
Of course, one can never have enough Minimoogs.

Yeah um, I don’t find the lack of presets “liberating”. Trust me.

Having had a few synths back in the 80s that had no presets, and just having purchased a few more in the past month (specifically for live performance), I think it’s a personal thing based on the type of performance you’re intending to create.

What I mean, is that if you’re doing live performances that are trying to match the original recordings and therefore have no room for improvisation or “happy accidents”, then you need presets.

But if you’re doing anything with room for improvisation, then you don’t need presets (assuming you’re comfortable with sound design).

Certainly in a studio setting, it doesn’t matter either way to me.

The Roland also has an attachable accessory keyboard if needed. ref: https://www.amazon.com/Roland-25-Key-Po ... EYQG0520S5

At this point in time, actual Moogs, look way overpriced. #cultfollowingpricetag

I don’t see the Moogs as over priced, for what you’re getting. It’s the difference between a hand made boutique instrument and the assembly line version of the same instrument.

My Mini Moog from the 70s is still rocking, 50 years later - will the Behringer’s last as long?

At $300, it doesn't have to.

I agree - that’s why it’s great to have choices, no? And this would reinforce my point that you DO get value with the Moog, even with the price difference. It just depends on what is important to you (or what your budget/needs are).

Maybe the Roland.
Yea, my JP8000 was still going strong after 20 years when I sold it last year. Let’s see how long the Novation Peak that replaced it will last…

 Quality at a reasonable price, always gets my vote. These Roland boxes look really good! BTW, I hope they do a JP8000, if they haven't already. (heads back to the rolandus site)

My Juno 106 is still going strong after 33 years (although the battery has long lost its charge and it no longer stores presets). I've been thinking about soldering on a proper removable battery to address that, but haven't taken the leap just yet.

I haven't heard one person, literally anywhere, complaining about Moog build quality. You might not like the price, in the short term, but quality makes products last, in the long term.

However, we do live in throwaway societies (at least some of us do) so this argument doesn't hold the water that it used to.

There is a Realistic/Moog in my area that is going for 400 usd and it is in great shape. It was built in the early 80s and still works and sounds great. That is worth the price of Moog to me.

On that not however .... I am really lusting after a Behringer Neutron and will have one. I'm thrilled that the company has moved into interesting (and yes, affordable) synthesis.
