Umpf Analog?
But it's gonna be an RE, so not *really* analog
Also, you can do drum sounds with most of the synths in Reason's rack, so why not use those if you want to "create" drums by yourself?

Don't tell Urs @ U-He , Richard @ Synapse Audio, or Andrew @ Blamsoft that.

I do wish there was another set of drum synth modules to make sounds with, but not UMPF. I have all of the drum synthesis Rack Extensions so far, and I can definitely use other RE's to roll-my-own too. I just wish we had some that sounded like Bitwig's or Pure Data or MaxMSP.
Yeah, I can make these sounds with almost any synthesizer (been doing this since '95) by myself, but I would rather have low-DSP single modules for ONLY that purpose. Purely for speed and yet another sound. I use the Noise Engineering modules for stuff like that and it's fantastic. More truly radical synth modules would be nice, too
Imagine 1/2 rack modules turned on their side, like 500 series or Eurorack. That'd be sweet!
Small, 1/2 rack modules or actually modular like Complex-1, maybe in a Eurorack format. Not sample-based, but synthesized. and NO VST. Glad others love VSTs, but I'd rather just stay within Reason via Rack Extensions. Everybody else is goin' modular. I wish we'd go full-on like Reaktor, like Bitwig, like VCV, etc. Modular is fun!

I think they've figured it out by now, but they like money from clueless usersEnochLight wrote: ↑25 Jan 2019Don't tell Urs @ U-He , Richard @ Synapse Audio, or Brian @ Blamsoft that.

You're suggesting that their analog modelling is bad? Just a money grab?

No, it's great for what it is but it's not *really* analog - I thought there can't be much of a difference until I got Analog Four Mk1EnochLight wrote: ↑26 Jan 2019You're suggesting that their analog modelling is bad? Just a money grab?

Yeah I'll have to politely disagree with you, there. U-He's analog modelling is legendary, and Synapse Audio's Legend totally knocks it out of the park. There's a plethora of others - even Softube's modelling of classic analog gear rocks it.
Of course it's not *really* analog - it's digital code emulating it. But I'd wager that - especially in a mix - not you nor most other people could tell the difference between a good emulation and its real-world hardware counterpart.

Didn't this all start with U-he Diva blowing away Sylenth?EnochLight wrote: ↑26 Jan 2019Yeah I'll have to politely disagree with you, there. Anyway...Analog is awesome. A good digitally modeled analog is even better!!! You get all the tone, without the inconveniences or cost.

^^ He gets it ^^
I mean seriously - I love hardware and nothing is cooler than tweaking real-world devices that you can touch, but come on now peeps... we're all here because we dabble with virtual instruments.

Amusingly enough, I owned the Analog Four mk1 for a short time. The specs looked good on paper, but I thought it's character was very clinical and boring to be honest. Not a device I would think of as a selling point for hardware analogue tbh.antic604 wrote: ↑26 Jan 2019No, it's great for what it is but it's not *really* analog - I thought there can't be much of a difference until I got Analog Four Mk1

You might be right, but it's my 1st ever truly analog gear, so for me the difference was very obvious and quite substantial - more so than I expected.eXode wrote: ↑15 Feb 2019Amusingly enough, I owned the Analog Four mk1 for a short time.
