Looks potentially very cool, though it will live or die by its synths (currently 4) and effects (which are AIR, I believe), I think. As someone who enjoys Maschine but wishes it was standalone, this seems like a potentially cool option. Thoughts?
The AKAI Force: a standalone akin to Ableton Push or Maschine

This is very impressive. I honestly thought it would be more expensive than this: at $1500, it’s significantly cheaper than Live + Push + a road-worthy laptop, while being much easier to set up and transport. I’ll withhold judgment on the user interface until I can actually try one, but from reading Peter Kirn’s first impressions, it sounds like they really thought it through.

Yeah, that's the point I was making: a device that functions similar to Live + Push or Maschine, but in a standalone unit.

Impressive piece of hardware but from what i have seen, the Step Sequencer is lacking alot.
Hi there how can i get the progression mode of force in to reason, see at 12:00 in the AKAI video. Should it be possible with the ChordSet from Retouch Control? Are there Jazz progressions as presets included?
Edit: i now have seen the Retouch Video and that clearly shows that this should be the pendant to the AKAI Force progressions mode, the question is only if the presets are as good as the AKAI ones. Or i need to find a Dokumentation with chord progressions to make a refill

It's very nice to see Akai pushing the envelope here.
However, I think it highlights that Props' gamble to spend all this time growing the RE marketplace may have been a wise choice. Akai has to provide all the on-board effects and instruments, which they seem to have accomplished mostly by licensing from AIR.
Props seem to be the only DAW company positioned to drop something like this (or an MPC clone) and have a major ecosystem of plugins available for the users from the jump.
I expect that the rest of these companies are going to be with-holding from each other and not targeting each others platforms and basically self-siloing, but who knows..

The MC-707 is more of a synth-focused device. It has Roland's Zen-core engine, which gives it a huge sound palette. I can't say I particularly like the idea of menu diving on the 707's old-school screen, but in the videos I've seen, it looks surprisingly intuitive. It can sample audio, but it's not an audio workstation.Billy wrote: ↑14 Oct 2020So what ones better?
Akia Force or Roland MC-707

The Force is a production hub. It has four onboard synth engines, but also a full audio workflow. It's basically a hardware DAW, and works a lot like Ableton Live (the latest firmware adds an arrangement view that works almost exactly like Ableton's).
You could produce or jam with either, but I think the Roland is more on the jam side while the Akai is more on the produce side.
