Flow Motion - new $39 FM synth from Waves
https://www.waves.com/plugins/flow-motion-fm-synth
$30.14 with code YNY23 from https://plugindiscounts.com
I trialled it and then got it from Plugin Discounts and used the voucher code.
I've read some 'mehhhhh' reactions on other forums about this synth... doing the usual Waves knocking... however... their main complaint was the wiring mechanism being odd./confusing but for us Reason owners we spend our days wiring up our sounds and it feels really natural and right to me - in fact because it's much more modular than your usual FM synth you start to get sounds you've never experienced before in a soft-synth. It's a really powerful synth with its own unique sound character - thumbs up.
Check out this in-depth review/tutorial/first-look...

I agree. It's a unique way of displaying and programming an FM synth that makes sense to me too, as a Reason user.danc wrote: ↑27 Nov 2018I've read some 'mehhhhh' reactions on other forums about this synth... doing the usual Waves knocking... however... their main complaint was the wiring mechanism being odd./confusing but for us Reason owners we spend our days wiring up our sounds and it feels really natural and right to me - in fact because it's much more modular than your usual FM synth you start to get sounds you've never experienced before in a soft-synth. Yoad from Waves talks a bit more about Flow Motion on the latest Sonic TALK.

I don’t mind waves plugins but I don’t use the ones I have all that much. I just never saw the hype that they are known for. I only have Codex and s few mastering tools from waves. But on a good note, maybe this fm synth will be something better than codex.
I must say I think it looks awesome, and I always love developers different spin of FM synths, my only gripe is when they say hybrid synth because it has a filter. Nowadays most people use filters either. Because it’s part of the synth, or because they have a 3rd party filter
I could see if it was additive and FM or phase distortion and FM, or even wavetable and FM
Expanse is a perfect example of a hybrid synth (according to my terms lol) it has a partial editor, can make Karplus strong synthesis sounds, do FM/RM, and wavetables. I guess if it were me I’d call this one a FM synth with a flare of subtractive synthesis
Or a FM synth with a filter. Does waves offer trials?
