That is great! Really happy to see it get an update! One of the most inspiring drum RE's out there, at least to me.

I'm interested to see how the GUI has changed as the previews aren't on the shop page any more.
Also, I'd like to know whether the LM style sample processing is applied to samples loaded using the new SDK sample browser.

Nice to see this update, hope that "LM style sample processing is applied to samples loaded using the new SDK sample browser" !?!

Sounds like it! You get this cool "EPROM" style gadget that pops up on top of the LM1. The sounds are nice and crunchy when imported. Great stuff QE! <3
*Edit: yeah this is super fun! If you're reading this QE, I'd love to see the same functionality extended to QASIC RZ-i for the custom sample pads.
Also a modbox for the 808 would be magic! Just saying

“L1M is actually the first Rack Extension that allows you to use custom samples as drum sounds! ”
I know ReDrum and Kong aren’t REs but isn’t that something you can do with them? Is it just the crunchy Linn sound that’s the difference? Sorry if I missed something.

I think the simple and "complete" parameter access (volume, pan, tuning) is compelling. But besides this, I have plenty of other sources for "that" Linn drum sound.

I initially had a hard time justifying the Jackboxes but when I added up all the time I spent setting pad outputs and hooking up mix channels...it was worth it in time alone haha. I do like having the immediacy of an output per drum (as with Umpf actually). Plus there's the "mojo" effect of it being an emulation of hardware. I'm aware it's probably large parts placebo but, I'm a sucker for it. What can I say! Now I have all the Jackboxes and they get used a *lot*.

I've owned this for a while and I find it more useable for retro drums than UMPF.
It's just soooooo tiny - argh.

Good question. Can you drop in a 4 bar loop for that crunch?miscend wrote:Can you load samples of any length and bit depth?

No, it simulates the amount of memory available on each chip, so longer samples will abruptly cut off (which could sound cool depend on the sound you’re after). I don’t know how long a sample each chip could hold but it’s a very, very small amount of space.Boombastix wrote: ↑12 Nov 2018Good question. How does this compare to Aly James VPROM VST?

It seems to work well with some drum samples but not others. It creates alot of artefacts so you really have to feed it the right material or you end up with noisy rubbish.
I would also love a few more editing functions like being able to tune the kick/bass drum.

Just uploaded a new video for the new L1M Linn drum, with the new sample load module...
I finally got it. I was looking for some yt videos and there was none...
wondering if the Quasic will also get a new sample formatter similar to the L1M.
When I first trialled the L1M it had the external loader only, same as the Quasic.
It is a pleasure to use now!
It's time for Quasic to get a similar conversion tool...

Does anybody knows if there is a Bank with the L1M Linn Drum samples in wav format???
It seems strange that I can't get the individual samples in the default bank.
I can load all various presets, with all samples pre-loaded, but if I want to cycle through
samples, I have to export every sample one by one, and make my own bank...
These samples are saved in EEPROMS in the original Linn Drum, and are almost impossible to find on
the net.
