Can anyone show me how to make a supersaw?

Using only 1 copy of Europa without layering it with anything else?

Every synth has it's strengths and weaknesses. I like Europa for it's unique and musical sound. I am not aware of how supersaws should be created, but I might need to look into it now...

I completely disagree.
Can you elaborate on what you’re trying to do? Access Virus “generic trance” supersaws, or the original of all, the Roland JP8000 supersaw?
They have a fundamentally different sound, however I can teach you how to make both in Europa....in addition there are countless renditions.
I think that if you’re simply blasting all three engines on maximum unison through a filter that you’re going to get too much destructive phase interference to have a full sound like the supersaw you hear in albums. I’ll also remind you that what you’re hearing in albums has been EQ’ed, compressed, processed, and effected to give that finished sound.
Let me know if you’ve got some examples that you’d like help recreating in Europa and I’m more than willing to try!

DAW: Reason 12
SAMPLERS: Akai MPC 2000, E-mu SP1200, E-Mu e5000Ultra, Ensoniq EPS 16+, Akai S950, Maschine
SYNTHS: Mostly classic Polysynths and more modern Monosynths. All are mostly food for my samplers!

Maybe someone could upload a good supersaw Europa patch? Or combinator that uses Europa? You all got me curious.

Not the OP, but I would definitely appreciate it if you would take a stab at this!jimmyklane wrote: ↑12 Aug 2018Can you elaborate on what you’re trying to do? Access Virus “generic trance” supersaws, or the original of all, the Roland JP8000 supersaw?

If it's not already covered by the above, I'd love to know how you would suggest solving or compensating for this problem.jimmyklane wrote: ↑12 Aug 2018I think that if you’re simply blasting all three engines on maximum unison through a filter that you’re going to get too much destructive phase interference to have a full sound like the supersaw you hear in albums.
How about these? Mono compatible or no go!jimmyklane wrote: ↑12 Aug 2018

The track from Etnica has several saws in different octaves playing (and filtered/EQed). The other one sounds quite simple. I would be surprised if that would not be possible with Europa.candybag wrote: ↑13 Aug 2018How about these? Mono compatible or no go!jimmyklane wrote: ↑12 Aug 2018

Even the basic patch in the web versions is quite ok:

Yes they are probably basic, but i find it really hard avoiding phase cancellation. Mono is a completely different animal.

REALLY wish the OP would return to participate in their thread instead of posting and disappearing - especially with a title so (intentionally?) provocative and a subject with absolutely no further explanation…thedjjudah wrote:However, layering it with Thor sounds great!
As a long time JP8000 owner, I’ve always loved the idea of the super saw though I don’t use it wide open in the more ‘traditional’ way (there are so many other cool ways to use stacked oscillators.
That being said, I love my JP8000, love Thor, love Antidote, love Europa. They all work great for me, and I don’t really consider the stacked oscillator ability when picking one of these synths (besides using Europa or Antidote when I was the stereo version of the oscillator).

I use Europa specifically for my trance type sounds.
I love Europa supersaws and hyper saws
Maybe you don’t like the sound because you aren’t adding OTT? Or some other form of heavy compression?
Supersaws are fairly basic sounds and Europa (to my ears) has nice sounding oscillators
Also Europa even takes it a step further with detuned sounds by not only allowing the detuning of the phase (phase only detune)
But the detuning modifier! Which I would assume detunes the sound on an oscillator/partial level.
Very handy for making wavetables and hypersaws
The key with supersaws isn’t so much the stacked oscillators but the processing afterwards
Maybe try something like OTT
Or using a parallel channel with a high pass on the parallel channel and slowly mix the second signal into the mix. There are tons of tricks to getting different supersaws, those are my two favorite methods

Then I suggest changing the title of this thread to be a little less aggressive. Don't you think so?
Ah nevermind, this guy should check out some sound design places to learn sound design.

Knowing what type it is is half the battle.
