Interesting insights...future releases...aha...hmm...sample/granular oscillator...yea, got it...lot of additional interesting stuff might come... We will see, what the devs can make of the IDT2. I expect that some "normal" devs got a bit harder competitions beside the VSTs.
Nice interview. Well done. Thanks Joey and Peter.

Fantastic review; well done! Thanks very much for doing this.
That said....
If I had any complaint, it's that you had Peter Gorges/uJam at your disposal, and you didn't ask him why/when we'd see IDT get proper time-stretching support for sample playback, or why it was never included if they made the freak'n tech for Propellerhead in the first place. If I have any complaint about IDT2, it's that glaringly obvious missing feature. In fact, I'm blown away that we're at year 5+ with this and the romplers in Reason still can't do this. I'm certain Soundiron would love to have been able to properly do Humana with time-stretched, in-sync vocal chants, etc. Among others...
Still, great interview. And the new RE's looks interesting!

Fantastic interview, thanks Joey! I'm pretty sure it's the first time we have so much insider info on the inner workings of the platform...
"Make your production instantly sound like you’re rolling through Atlanta in a Lambo flexing your gold grill."
Thanks so much, everybody!
To anybody with additional questions, I'm sure Peter would be interested to read them and might even answer some of them I can't ask but so many questions! I'm sure he'd enjoy hearing your suggestions as well.

Thanks for the interview.
The interview discussion of the company's background with IDT and the A-List series caught my eye because the Beatmaker REs remind me quite a bit of the A-List Drummer REs, excepting that these new ones are designed for modern electronic music.
I've been playing around with Eden and I'm enjoying the results.

I see these getting a lot of negative comments, particularly on Facebook. People seem to miss the fact that Ujam's Beatmaker series appear to be based on their "Heavy/Solid/Phat" virtual drummer plugins. For the record, "Solid" got an Expert’s Choice Award over at Pro Tools Expert (take away from that what you will... )
For anyone who's interested, check out Solid right here:
Slightly related: you can buy the entire virtual drummer plugin suite (all 3 plugins, Heavy, Solid, & Phat) for just $55 USD more than what's being asked for just one of the Beatmaker RE's...

Beats me, but the Virtual Drummer bundle is $154 USD, whereas the A-List RE bundle is $199 USD, so... there's that. Both the VST and the RE are based on 5 drum kits, 30 styles, and 720 patterns, so I'm going to wager that they have similar/shared content.

Enoch, time stretching is already included in IDT. It works by inserting a Timestretch module in a group, or a Sample Osc for grain-style stretching! Hope this helps! Glad you enjoyed the interview btw!

Than for chiming in. I already knew about that module, but I guess I'm just surprised that Reason's own Humana (for instance) doesn't take advantage of it if it can be used in the manner in which I'm thinking. This just seems like a missed opportunity (I realize you guys didn't do Humana, so that's more an observation towards Props/SoundIron).
Anyway, great interview - thanks for all of the work that you do!

Out of interest, is Waldorf Ultimate Waves the same as the Wizoo Powered Wave? I used to have the Wizoo one one back in the 2000s and it was great. Are its sounds in Layers too?
Keep up the great work!

Hi Magnus,
thanks for the nice words. Yes, those are the same sounds, we released a version of it too. I had forgotten about it actually!
Cheers,
Peter

Theses are very pricy for what they are, and I don't like them being spread over 3 different devices, this is a trend I really dislike with RE's. I guess they do sound good but.. yeah. Just my opinion.
Probably, the 3 devices, which Humana is part of, were made with IDT v1, not v2, maybe.EnochLight wrote: ↑02 Jul 2018I already knew about that module, but I guess I'm just surprised that Reason's own Humana (for instance) doesn't take advantage of it if it can be used in the manner in which I'm thinking. Man, these guys at UJam are freaking geniuses.
Really, VG2 still works rock solid with Jbridge in reason after 12 years! I have all the A-List's too and there are quite important instruments on some of my productions, specially the Guitars. I have the A-List drummers too, but they are a bit more dusty over here. I guess i like to have a bit more control over the drum section.
I think with Umpf there's not as much room for me to buy the beatmakers devices cause i like to have a bit more control. Still... It's good to see stuff coming to reason by UJAM!
