Satisfied? I mean with the devices rather than the purchase.

Don't think it's an insta buy for me. But I find the idea exciting: rather than cloning existing plugins from the VST/AU world (which can be used directly anyway) these are new paths towards the original "rack" idea of Reason. Hardware goes software. :)

The Bundle is now available too, and it is named with a "1" ;-)

I wonder if all the "novelty" isn't coming from the fact, that those - and other such devices - typically encourage you to mess around with parameters, that in other synths you'd set once & forget about them? It's just a mindset thing really, because launching eg. Thor we try to make the sound that's harmonically pleasing and resembles some real (or imaginary, but still mostly conventional) instrument, whereas here it's all about f***ing it up and getting weird, but one can get similar results in Thor just fiddling with parameters we set and forget: wavefolders/modifiers, FM ratios, envelopes, etc.

Well, that's what the fun of modular (hardware) is all about, no? ;)

This is true. I remember seeing one of the hardware versions in a modular doc and wondering why anyone would do that to a front panel. It's yet another occasion where I wish I could apply some generic neutral scheme to the UI of an RE so it wasn't so hard on the eye. But on this occasion at least I think the quality of the sound will win out.

On of the best Re's I've tried. And that ZFO2 from Panda seems like it was made for these Re's.

Love it.

Don't have any money left after upgrading to 10, but I will be getting those.

Heh, I seem to have acquired a reputation as a harsh UI critic around here, but I actually kind of like them! (At least the 2U devices; the big one is less balanced and feels out-of-scale.)

UX-wise, they're not bad at all - the icons are easy to differentiate and about as clear as macro knobs can get, and the way the functionality has been distilled into these few knobs seems, at least on first impressions, very effective.

The aesthetics are very love-it-or-hate-it, and I'll grant this is an area where it gets more subjective. Personally, I'd rather have something designed with a strong vision to be brash and "ugly" than something designed with no clear vision or focus.

I was wondering when you would chime in!

Honestly, i don't think they look great either... but they are very useful and welcomed by the modular crew, so who am i to judge!

Different strokes for different folks! ;)

I also think they are easier to find and identify in the list of REs and in the rack.

Great to have them and their developers.

best

Thanks for that. That's obvious. Why is it hidden from browsing customers? How did Loque find it in the first place?

Been playing with Basimilus – and I must say I'm impressed. Feels almost too easy to get great percussion or drums out of it. Any randomized Matrix- or PSQ-pattern seem to work. Great module. Hope for more REs like this...

I'm interested in a beginners guide to modular, using the 3 new NE devices. Also curious about the best way to map a drum controller, say an Alesis Sample Pad, to trigger the new devices live. Probably just use a KONG right?
