Mattias is letting us know that they are working on VST performance issues, and that there will be another free update for that.
VST performance? Just one Europa instance kills my Macbook Pro 15" i7 (4 cores). That is why I didn't buy R10 upgrade. Demoed it, but my quite good Macbook couldn't handle it.
That's really weird. What model of i7 are you on? My i7-4790k Mac is able to handle multiple Europa instances in a complete song without breaking a sweat.

Then again, so is selling an essential MIDI utility instead of of just including it free of charge (i.e. not as a time-limited offer)
essential? how is Drum Sequencer essential? :?

I can not help since i don't have Mac but your performance figures are pointing that something is not right in your setup. Europa barely move CPU here even though i am on PC and on one machine i have 4 cores. But performance should not be any worse on Mac. Actually quite of my friends use it on Mac without any performance issues.

Maybe it's best to post here in some thread your setup details or email directly PH.

Good luck

I am *so* happy that Props are making good progress on the VST perf! Honestly, I can live with it for another half year, as long as I know a fix is coming.

To be honest, the VST implementation in Reason is ridiculously awesome: Having CV in/out to devices is great, and the way automation works is wonderful. And, I'm amazed at how many devices it supports without problems (pretty much any VST I've tried works) - they did a great job testing.

Looking forward to the day I can play two simultaneous notes in Diva :)

Great to know about vst performance optimization, this is the reason why I will upgrade to R 10 now )) But also I would love to see scalable rack and mixer in R 10 minor updates... any plans for that, Mattias ? :)

Try going into Preferences and unchecking "Use hyper-threading audio rendering", that gave a pretty huge performance boost on my Macbook.

Does Reason 10.1 have better MIDI support? Does it let me choose the MIDI channel?
I own TAL-U-NO-LX: this VST is a (brilliant) emulation of the Juno 60. It has a setting that makes it possible to sync the arpeggiator with note-on events played on MIDI CHANNEL 16, but that is not possible in Reason because there is no way to set the MIDI channel in Reason. Is this now possible in 10.1? If not, when will you implement this? MIDI channels are a basic part of the MIDI standard, it's insane that Reason does not support them.

Thanks kindly to Mattias for the clear communication on the immediate future, as well as some of what's happening behind the scenes. There are plenty of great new reasons to be excited about Reason.

Still waiting for Reason 11!

Not enough incentive for me personally, and I've waited this long already so I might as well stick with it.

And trun on low res mode for Reason if you haven`t already!

i use a 2014 13” mbp, it doesnt even have a graphics in it and a europa or two doesnt take enough processing to warrent bouncing tracks or anything.
using lower resolution helps ALOT as well as running reason in low res mode.

You must have something seriously wrong with your machine. I've been playing with Europa a lot lately on my older i7 laptop with zero issues.

So is the only thing new in the update is expanded capability in Europa? That makes it a Europa update. The drum sequencer is not a permanent part of the update.. snooze
if you get the update now you will keep the drum sequencer forever. Yes, it won't be free with the update, but eventually it might be included again

Mattias,

Is VST 3.5 support being considered?

Roland Cloud VSTs require this on Mac.

Thanks so much.

Do I understand that correctly?
We’re introducing a new version of our Rack Extension SDK, featuring Player devices, improved sample loading with sample zones and pattern automation support.
does that mean there will soon be a large sampler as a rack extension?! :o :puf_bigsmile:

I interpret "Sample Zones" as a possibility to drag and drop samples in zones, such as you could do in Kong. But I could be, and often are, wrong
